Tachneon's fatal weakness is pizza. Women offering this to him will be forever admired. You've been warned.

Tachneon was the first character I took to level 50. As soon as I created him I was hooked on the pace and ferocity of the Scrapper AT. Over the time I've had the privilege of playing him, his personality has gone from spastic to downright insane. Not many people understand what I, or rather he says most of the time. I often don't know myself, but it proves to be a fun experience.

- Physical Description -

Tachneon likes to wear the colors of his former Vanguard squad, Delta Red: brown, black, and of course, red. In his heroic costume though, he wears black and cyan "because cyan is awesome." The finned helmet that always sits firmly on his head is never removed. He does have a face though, but pretty much nobody has seen it. This has led some people to believe that Tach is a robot or maybe a rogue Power Ranger. He will tell you though that this is definitely incorrect. Tachneon feels strongly that if he removes his helmet for any period of time, he could die. From the knees down his legs are prosthetic, strengthened with high-tensile carbon nanotubes and removable piston mechanisms that greatly enhance the power of his knee and ankle joints. With these enhancements he can use the pistons of his prosthetic legs to leap great distances, or kick with extreme force. Commonly, he is seen wearing either his old Vanguard armor, or his flashy heroic costume.

- Character History -

The Beginning

File:Action1.jpg
Tachneon repels an invasion force.

Tachneon started on the path of his hero career shortly after the surprise attacks of the first Rikti invasion. Since one of those attacks took his lower legs, forcing them to be replaced with cybernetics, he wanted to help others before they were hurt as well. Though the new tech was really only suited for things like enhanced speed and jumping, Tachneon knew he would be a good candidate for the Vanguard's meta-human army thanks to his training in the way of the Samurai, something he had enjoyed learning as a hobby. In fact, the attack that left him missing his beloved feet, happened during one of his training sessions. Needless to say Tach would not get to watch his favorite kung-fu movies afterward.

Luckily, the Vanguard was in great need of troops and quickly accepted Tach into their ranks, specifically into the squad Delta Red. This squad had soldiers made up mostly of people like Tachneon, people with technological replacements in their bodies. Nothing spectacular, mostly sense enhancing tech and motorized joints, that sort of thing. After a short bit of basic training, Tachneon was suited up in the armor he can still be seen wearing today, given a Talsorian katana, and was sent to the field. The quickness and bright, trailing color of his sword tagged him the nickname Tachneon among his squad mates.

Post-traumatic Something-or-other

At some point during the fighting, Tach pretty much lost his sense of reality. He stopped fearing things which would very easily kill him, and he was almost always seen smiling, sometimes even quietly laughing to himself. Others in his squad kept their distance, but weren't exactly afraid of his sudden change in behavior. Leaders of the squad couldn't determine the exact cause, but believed that perhaps the Rikti Mentalist blasts may have had adverse effects on him. Over time, however, Tach began to show signs of normality once again, but something still seemed different. When people asked him about how the tragedy of the surprise attacks affected him, he never showed signs of emotional pain or sorrow. He always seemed to have an unrealistic optimism about things, talking about what would otherwise bring tears to someone, in a totally calm demeanor. He often wondered and asked why people could possibly feel badly about anything. Once the fighting had finally ended, Tachneon decided to keep his wartime nickname, and against the recommendation of the Vanguard, had his original name and background erased from all his records. It seemed he became somebody totally different, and he seemed totally fine with that.

The Big Time

Top of the World ...kinda

With the brunt of the war over with, Tachneon resigned from Vanguard service and immediately decided he should rise up and become a hero better than even Statesman himself. Somewhere in his altered mind, he believed he could do far better than any of the rising hotshots of Paragon City. Even though he knew many "true" superheroes could do fantastic things like shoot fire from their nose, Tachneon felt he had to prove himself. Making his home out of a series of large cardboard boxes in an alley of King's Row, Tachneon began doing jobs for members of the Hero Corps. In probably one of the most sane thoughts he had since the war, Tach decided to hold on to his old weapons and armor, knowing that in order to best Statesman he would need at least some equipment. Downtime was spent hanging out in his luxurious cardboard crib, listening to Wu-Tang Clan CDs and watching kung-fu movies on a TV he found nearby. Days passed, then weeks, then months, and eventually Tach found himself battling some of Paragon's fiercest villains. He knew with his growing status that he was close to his goal.

Hero of the City...?

Though technically Tachneon hasn't actually bested Statesman yet, he believes strongly that he's saved the well-known hero from many, many villains. Including the mighty Lord Recluse, whom he hasn't even seen before. He will tell you grand stories of his battles to save States' from a 25ft. tall, old hermit named "The Ultra-Lord Recluse" from the south side of King's Row. He continues fighting criminals all over Paragon, however, and he hasn't realized that he's been considered a Hero of the City for quite a while now. Currently he does his best fighting the more recent wave of Rikti attacks, he's drawn to them like it's something he does more for fun than for the city's safety. When duty is busy calling others to the fight, Tach can be seen jumping from rooftop to rooftop with his trusty cyborg legs, or hanging around DJ Zero's Pocket Dimension, schooling its patrons on the magics and legend of the Galactic Cheese.

- Personality -

Tachneon has a tendency to be exceedingly random in speech, and in fights, over-confident and aggressive. He can find the good side in anybody and make a comfy home there if they aren't careful. He won't often speak until spoken to though, so you won't hear him droning on unless somebody got him going. Some people may take his confident nature as an offense, but when faced with hostility, Tach's stubborn ego and confidence usually bores his aggressor. When things get heated, people may try getting violent with Tachneon, but they're usually met with sudden disinterest, making the situation very one-sided and boring in his eyes. Few are persistent enough to work him up to the point where he will draw his weapon. Tach will relate well with others who are equally or more strange than he is, as they offer the best conversation. Those excelling in mind control powers will likely suffer personal injury when attempting any intrusion into the chaotic mess of his thoughts. Telepathy would be dangerous, and complete mind control is absolutely impossible.

- Equipment -

Vanguard Stuff

Tachneon kept his old Vanguard armors and weapons. He has maintained it all quite well, it still looks and performs as it did when he received it.

Other Stuff

Tachneon, like other heroes, will sometimes carry various other equipment. Stuff like a Vanguard teleporter that can call in a HVAS to fight along side him. He will sometimes use other various swords and weaponry as well. Even an old Rikti blade has made it into his hands. He doesn't use other tools very often though, since Tachneon believes he is good enough to do without them. Other heroes that know him will readily tell you this isn't always true.
