Playing around with a suggestion from SoulTrain here, if you have any ideas or feedback please pop in to that thread or this template's discussion page.

Trying to put together a powerset template to allow users to easily plug powersets with icons into their pages, either displaying the default in-game help text for each power or the user's own custom text, and also allowing the user to include, exclude, or rename powers as desired. Creating the page just to test basic layout/get the look right, it does not include any of those abilities yet.

It currently mimics ParagonWiki's power listing layout (except the powers are ordered by Tier instead of alphabetically), with Heading levels assigned on the assumption that the template would be used following the line =Powers= or another top-level heading, making the powerset a second tier heading and each power third tier. I'm using Empathy as the example because it was the first I found that UHVU has all the Power Icons for. Default text was copied from Empathy at ParagonWiki.

Examples and tests of this template will be made at User:AlwaysAPrice/PowersetSandbox. -- AlwaysAPrice 18:53, 12 June 2008 (MST)

Precede each following statement mentally with, "If I didn't botch something,". In this update, it should now be possible to edit the names and descriptions of the Powerset and each individual power. To use this template to only display the entire standard Empathy powerset, use the following:

{{PowersetSandbox}}To edit any portion of this template to display a customized description of these powers as used by a specific character, the following list of variables apply:
SetName - Changes the powerset name
Name1 - Changes the name of the Tier 1 power (change the number to change the affected tier)
Desc1 - Changes the description of the Tier 1 power (as above)

In the example I'll put on the test page to see if it works, I will be using the following "cheat sheet" to alter some of the power names/descriptions and leave the rest unchanged.

{{PowersetSandbox
|SetName=
|Name1=
|Name3=
|Desc3=
|Desc4=
|Name9=
|Desc9=
|}}

If this all works as it's supposed to, the only thing left to add is the ability to switch each power on or off altogether. -- AlwaysAPrice 21:58, 12 June 2008 (MST)

Now trying to get #IFEQ: to work to make the powers switchoffable, if I understand User:Tribunal's Template:HeroAttributes's operation it oughta be working soon. Trying to get this working so that if you include:

Tier1=0

--then it will leave out the Tier 1 power altogether. Any other value or leaving that variable out of the template should result in the power being displayed as normal or using a user-defined name and/or description. -- AlwaysAPrice 07:23, 13 June 2008 (MST)

That worked, so added that ability for Tier2 - Tier9. Also put in a field for basic powerset description, grabbed from the powerset selection screen at character creation. Variable for that is

SetDesc

Only problem now is that if you exclude several consecutive powers it creates an unattractive gap of line breaks.

And SoulTrain fixed that. -- AlwaysAPrice
