Shirin Gideon, or "the Libertarian Cherub" is a registered mutant teenaged superheroine operating mostly in Paragon City, as well as other regions of the United States. Initially recruited as a child supersoldier at the age of 12 into the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to repel the first Rikti invasion of the Eastern Mediterranean in 2002-- but later coerced by a new fascist regime to fight in wars of conquest and a civil war-- Shirin Gideon finally deserted the military during the 2007 siege of Damascus and fled to America. Harbouring a deep sense of guilt, justice, and compassion, she sought to take up the cape, only to be held back by being stuck in the political tensions between the United States and the new fascist regime operating in Israel.
