Known Background Information
Only small bits of information are known about the man that only refers to himself as "Showstopper." Starting in the year 2008, he funded and produced his very own travelling circus. He decided to name it Circus Dementia, and dedicated it to providing entertainment and fascinating the masses with his collection of freaks and oddities that had decided to join him on this endeavor. They were quite popular among small crowds, wowing all those who had given money in exchange for the performance of a lifetime.
Showstopper and his crew never visited the same location twice, publicly stating that "Everyone deserves a life changing experience such as this." Beginning in the state of Missouri, his Circus Dementia traveled from town to town, quickly developing a remarkable reputation while working their way up to larger audiences in more densely populated areas. They even managed to amass a cult following of fans, dedicated to doing whatever was needed to ensure the travelling troupe acquired all that it needed to survive.
With every city they visited, however, exactly one week later the people would realize that at least one bank in the area would be entirely cleaned out. Although some simply brushed it off as a rise in villainous activity, others began to draw a link between Circus Dementia and the crimes. Each time someone rose up to speak against the performers, however, Showstopper would offer them free admittance to his events in a show of good will and to prove nothing was suspicious about his activities. This gesture always seemed to persuade any nay sayers that the Circus only had good intentions for the people.
This had gone on for two years until, after seeking a much larger audience, Showstopper and his Circus Dementia paid the city of Paragon a visit. This was to be their largest performance ever pulled of. It was also to be their last.
Powers and Weaknesses
Showstopper is able to manipulate the shadows and bend them to his will, granting him a wide variety of abilities. This includes being able to weaken and even harm others, transporting himself and others to various locations, protecting himself from a certain degree of harm, and even the ability to influence another's thoughts.
In addition to his super powers, Showstopper possesses a higher degree of intelligence than most and is known to be incredibly crafty, always planning ahead in the event that something should go wrong.
However, with his powers requiring darkness, larger amounts of light will weaken him. Depending on how much light he is subjected to, it can render him temporarily powerless. Due to his need to be a showman, it is necessary for all of his crimes to be similar to that of a large performance, with not a hint of anything being subtle. This causes his crimes to be few and far in between.
Known ways to properly thwart Showstopper include, but are not limited to:
- Using any available source of light to weaken him.
- Outnumbering him
- Exploiting his love to make things long winded and entertaining
