The Solarkinetic is an alien hero played by @Yusaku777. The type of character she is can best be described as a stranger in a strange land, with no way to get home. Created as an homage to Starfire from the Teen Titans animated series, she was originally an Energy/Energy Blaster, and was rerolled at Level 34 into a Peacebringer when @Yusaku777 got his first Level 50. The reroll was not a retcon, she was roleplayed as rescuing a dying Kheldian from the Council, and bonded with it. Tiena was always roleplayed as being solar powered, and the Kheldian powers fit that theme very well. Plus, she can now shoot laser beams from her eyes.

History

Tiena hails from the distant world of M'tar. The M'tarians were not a technologically advanced race, but had lived for millenia in relative peace. They thought they might be alone in the universe. They were wrong. Approximatly 5 years ago, Slavers raided M'tar, capturing thousands. As one of the new captives, Tiena was hauled away from everything she knew, on her way to an uncertain future. Cut off from the solar radiation M'tarians had evolved to use, the new slaves were quickly controlled.

How long Tiena was on the Slaver ship, she does not know. With no point of reference, she passed the months, or maybe years, inside the hold of the Slaver ship. Every so often, the Slavers would remove a group of her fellow M'tarians, who were never to be seen again. Soon, there were only a handful of familar faces in her cell. She did not know how many others might be on the ship. She assumed that one day soon, the Slavers would come to take her away, as well.

All that changed when the Slaver ship entered orbit around Earth. Arriving so soon after the original Rikti invasion, the Slavers were caught by surprise by the vicious array of missles deployed in defense against them. Inside her cell, Tiena had no idea what happened, only that suddenly the entire ship tilted on its side, plummeting towards the planet below. As the wreckage fell, cracks began to rip through the hull, exposing the entire ship to the atmosphere outside. This included Tiena, who was washed in the warm glow of solar radiation for the first time in what seemed like years. D.A.T.A. sent a team of heroes to investigate the crashed ship, looking for any further danger.

The only survivor found was Tiena, battered, bloody, and bathed in the fading light of sunset.

When she finally awoke, she had been transfered to a military hospital in Paragon City, under observation by some of S.E.R.A.P.H.'s brightest minds, who had discovered Tiena's reliance on solar radiation fairly easily. When a search of their database turned up no matches with known alien species, they attempted to open communications with Tiena telepathically. Having never been spoken to telepathically, she panicked at the unusual sensations and images in her mind. Thankfully, the wall wasn't that thick, and the telepath suffered only a few broken bones. Tiena still feels guilty about that to this day.

Over the next two years, Tiena slowly recovered her strength in Earth's lower solar radiation. She used that time to learn more about the new world she found herself on, along with beginning to understand the language. Eventually, she was released into the care of Captain Galacto, of the Galacto Guard, where she began to use her solar-powered gifts to help out as best she could. She still hopes to one day return to M'tar, but sadly does not know where it is in relation to Earth. Until then, she'll try her best to protect her new home from danger, as the Startling Solarkinetic!

Personality

Tiena is all alone on Earth, with no other M'tarians known about. Combined with her difficulites with the English language, she can be shy at times, easily embarassed about what she feels are her mistakes in translation. Otherwise she tries to maintain a sunny personality, trying to have fun at all times. Coming from a world where the people were still technologically primitive, she's fascinated by all the technology on Earth, finding a Teleporter and a Toaster equally intriguing.

She has trouble with the tenses in English, constantly getting them wrong, and is well known for her amazingly long way of saying a simple "Hello." Introduced to popular television by the young Galacto Girl, Tiena has quickly become a fan of the Gilmore Girls on repeats, wishing she was as quick with verbal quippings as the two stars. Tiena never uses the name "The Solarkinetic", since she has no ties to it. The name was given to her by the City, before they were able to finally communicate with her, since it described how her natural abilities worked.

Powers

M'tar was an Earth-like planet at one time, until their Sun began to grow larger. As the Sun began it's eons long journey to eventual explosion, the solar radiation it put out grew immense. The people of M'tar were able to forsee the dangerous times in the coming centuries, and eventually moved their entire population under the surface of their world, inhabiting the crystaline tunnels and caverns that crisscrossed M'tar. Over the next thousand years, as the solar radiation grew steadily higher and higher, the M'tarians evolved to adapt.

A M'tarian is a natural solar battery, storing and converting solar radiation towards a number of purposes.

Appearance

Tiena is of average height and weight for a M'tarian female. Her skin tone and hair color are within natural variances for M'tarians as well. The only major difference between Tiena and most M'tarians is the color of her eyes. When she bonded with her Kheldian symbiote, the natural yellow glow of her eyes changed to a bright white glow. Despite her slender frame, she is far stronger than a human female with a similar build. Her body also has minor physiological changes compared to human females, in regards to reproductive features.

She tends to wear her Galacto Guard costume when on patrol, proud to be part of a group that does so much for her adopted home. When "dressing up", she tends to dress in clothing like what she has seen on the television, which results in some rather unusual outfits, whether a cowgirl one day, or a school girl the next.

Affiliation

Tiena has been a member of the Galacto Guard for over 2 years now. Well respected, she has risen through the ranks, working closely with all members of the Guard at one time or another. She has also worked on repeated occasions with members of the League of Justice, the Campus Alliance of Preternatural and Exemplary Students (C.A.P.E.S.), and the Templars of the Abbey. Most of her time is spent on patrol, or recharging her internal batteries, so she has formed few close friendships.
