Personality

Vermilia is naturally shy and tends to not hang around people much unless it is necessary. She's not much for conversation, and more or less feels awkward around large groups. In groups, she is self-conscious and tends to let others take charge and make decisions, and will rarely speak her mind.

Phobias

Hemophobia

Ironically, the sight of blood (including her own) makes Vermilia queasy. The only reason why she drinks blood is for the novelty factor and it's a good way to catch enemies off guard; a batgirl latched onto you biting into your neck would probably cause you to freak out for a moment.

Nyctophobia

The fear of complete and utter darkness is not as severe for Milly, since she still functions normally during the day, but trying to sleep anywhere without some type of light source is next to impossible for her.

Background

Childhood

Growing up, Virmilia (Milly) was a bit of a tomboy, but otherwise normal. In school, she typically kept to herself and didn't have very many friends. She made A's in many of her classes, branding her a "nerd" by many of her classmates. Life was uneventful until the age of 13, when everything changed.

Adolescence -> Present

When Milly turned 13, her mutations came into play, turning her into the bat like girl she is today, as well as granting her the ability to manipulate energies around her. As a result, Milly tried resuming her normal life, but after being made fun of constantly stopped going to school entirely. It wasn't until later when she met others like her that she was able to get out into the world again.

It was with them that Milly learned how to fight and defend herself, and how to control her powers. It wasn't until later when she could fend for herself in a fight that she learned the true nature of her new "friends": They were just thugs, using their powers to terrorize normal people and to take what they want. They intended to take advantage of Milly's shy nature to make her do what they wanted, but their plan backfired when she turned on them in a rage after learning what they were planning to do.

After defeating her former friends, she ran off in tears, not knowing who to trust anymore. Several bystanders who witnessed what she had done followed her and tried to cheer her up, calling her a hero. After calming down a bit, Milly decided to take everyone's advice and apply for a hero license under the name people cheered her on with: The Vermilion Bat.
