Character History
Thrust Vector's origin isn't all that special. Just an average young adult, bored with college classes and not at all looking forward to a life of desk jobs, his mind was filled with fantasies of comic books, science fiction, sword-and-sorcery - you name it. He wanted something out of the ordinary, to be someone special, and to have more unique responsibilities.
One night, while pushing his roadster in the local twisty mountain roads, a bright violet object flashed in front of Thrust Vector's headlight beams, followed by the roar of crackling metal and concrete as it crashed only yards in front of him. Careening, he barely missed it, only saved by the guardrail as it abruptly ended the tires' wailing. The wreckage was smoking profusely, and the smell electrified the air as he cautiously - but curiously - stumbled towards it.
But as he passed into the broken portal of what seemed to be an alien spaceship, something extraordinary happened. It first began to pulse - his right arm, that is - ever so slightly. But as every step he took, it pulsed faster, and it pulsed stronger. It was not long before Thrust felt his arm was about to explode, so he stopped, hoping the pain would stop in turn. Instead, it only hurt more and more, and a tremendous humming flooded his head until he felt his arm - truly - explode. His vision wandered down in an anesthetized daze, and the last thing he saw was an amorphous, erratic body of pure energy where his right arm used to be.
It must have been forever before he woke up. The wreckage was no longer glowing. And the air didn't smell energized anymore; the smoke was just stale now. Several seconds later, Thrust decided to peek at his arm again. It had been replaced by some kind of smooth, curved metal. It was some kind of shell (or armor), he decided, because he could still feel the essence of his limb within it. But then, something felt cold on his face. He reached up with his left hand and felt for it - it felt like the same kind of metal on his arm. He tugged - it was grafted onto his face, part of him now. Right. He shrugged.
The night was cold now, outside the smoldering wreckage. Something told him to lift his arm towards the sky. He did. Before he could think about why he just did that arbitrary action, his arm-shell flared open and let loose a bullet-like burst of blue energy, the clouds above parting in a circle of humility. He grinned.
Personality
To sum things up, Thrust Vector is a cocky bastard. He might have been a bit reticent before his latent mutation actualized, maybe even a bit shy, but now he charges head-on towards the good fight. He is brash and he antagonizes, not intentionally but as an effect of his constant blitz towards being the strongest out there.
Still, Thrust is naturally good at heart - as hard as it is to see - and never targets the weak and helpless.
Powers
Thrust Vector's mutation consists of his right arm morphed into an entity of erratic energy. Unlike certain misconceptions, his powers do not come from the alien shield molded around his arm. Rather, the source of his energy blasts comes from the arm itself, the alien technology simply being a dam to the torrents of energy. It is controlled by the plate grafted to his face around his right eye, which interfaces directly with his mind so that he can activate his "arm-shell" on will.
Sometimes, the seemingly autonomous metal "evolves" with his powers to help control his growing power further, such as when those "wings" sprout from his back (although Thrust Vector's power of flight still comes from his arm, not from the alien technology).
