Quick Background
Dalton was born on an alternate Earth where, centuries ago, the planet was covered in an umbral sheath. No one knows how this happened, or who did it, if in fact someone is responsible. Overall, this sheath had no major effect on the planet, other than to make things a bit darker. Well... that's what they thought at first.
In reality, the sheath was a portal that allowed shadow beasts to freely enter that Earth's realm. Most were harmless, cute even, and made for nice, small pets. Some however, were true monsters and hunted humans for food or just to play.
Over the course of time, the humans developed the power to manipulate the shadow sheath to some degree. And, every now and then, a few are born who can manipulate it to an incredible degree. So much so that they are able to use these powers to hunt the hunters, and keep the twilight world just a bit safer.
Dalton is one of these Twilight Keepers.
