First Mission
Part One: The Space Race
Introduction
$name, thank you for meeting with me. Word: received...pardon me. I've just received word that our scientists on the International Space Station have made contact: visual with what appears to be a derelict spacecraft of unknown origin in Earth orbit. There's a tight lid on this situation at present and for good reason.
Some of the Rikti forces left behind after the first invasion evacuated: space. From the description I've heard, it doesn't sound Rikti, but with this Second Rikti War still in full sway this could spark a panic. We also have concerns: more pressing.
Concerns we need to address within the hour.
Send Off
This incident has prompted a space race between Uncle Sam and Lord Recluse. Arachnos has moved into Fossburg in force; satellite analysis and reports from our eyes in the sector suggest they're actually preparing a small experimental vessel for a manned spaceflight using the launchpad there. There's also signs that other agencies are moving in to the area with similar intent.
That's why I requested authorization to bring you in, $name. We need someone of your skills to wrench: works and prevent Arachnos, or anyone else, from making that pirate spaceflight. Their control center is inside the warehouse at these coordinates. Current estimate is that they'll need another hour at best to prep the launchsite.
Take this satellite phone in case you need to contact me directly while you're out there.

Hints & Tips
- In the first mission, the fight against Launch Overseer Kale has three ambushes attached. All ambushes are set to Rogue alignment, meaning they will fight each other as well as you -- use this to your advantage! This also applies to the three bosses which appear after Kale's defeat.
Notes
- The working title was "Invasion of the Space Gremlins", but by the time the missions were plotted out and the story arc pinned down, I realized it wasn't really an invasion at all -- more of an accident. I like the sound of "Attack" better, anyway, sounds more cornball (hence the exclamation point).
- It was sketched out as a 5 mission arc, with mission 4 involving Angus sending you to find the hero your description of the aliens reminded him of: Gx the Space Gremlin, for further insight into what these creatures are. As the arc shaped up however, that would have been an unnecessary divergence -- I much, much prefer the pacing of the arc as it stands now (and wouldn't have space to add another mission even if I wanted to).
Footnotes
- ↑ I locked the mission to 40-45 for two reasons: 1) there's no TFs at that level range with the exception of the ITF. 2) Above 45, Crey only spawn Tanks, which are frankly ugly and obnoxious to both look at and fight, and while Crey's role is small I felt having suited agents there for them fits their purpose much better.
