History

Early Childhood

"Jacob Arnolds" was born to Tiffany Arnolds and "Matthew Brackson" in Atlas Park, Paragon City just a few minutes after his twin brother, Joey, on May, 23rd, 1991, and they were exactly the same except for Jacob's brilliant blue skin and elegantly pointed ears.

It was obvious things were not as they had seemed, and though Tiffany had expressed nothing but love for the younger twin, Matthew took the baby and fled. He was so filled with terror that he and this baby would be tormented and hated that he returned to his homeland - a dark fairy village hidden in the woods of a small alternate dimension.

It was here that he regained his original identity of Macellarius and renamed Jacob to Valarius. He would be raised as a dark fairy, taught to fight and hate and struggle to become a great being.

Valarius thrived in dark fairy society, becoming a perfect model amongst all the children. Despite this achievement, the hidden human side of him craved more love and affection from his father, and he sought it out whenever possible.

It was this desire to do nothing more than sit in his father's lap and tell him all about the praise he'd received from his teachers that eventually caused the downfall of his childhood. The council came for Valarius, intending to place him where he could further realize their plans for him.

Desperate to protect his son, Macellarius returned his son to the human world by himself...Valarius arrived in Paragon city without even the chance to realize his father was no longer hugging him.

To Paragon City

He was 11-years-old when he was sent to Paragon City and the first few hours moved so quickly that he'd never be able to remember just how things happened. Men and women in red and white discovered him in an alley and took him, despite his desperate protests and he was to be placed in a safe house until they located this "fairy village" that the strange little boy had screamed about.

They took him to a trusted friend - a hero that worked with them frequently at the time - The Azure Flare. He was taken reluctantly by the man, and the first night was spent with them staring at each other in quiet silence.

The Birth of The Ruby Devil

Days flew by and became weeks and then months and before Valarius knew it, he was completely at peace with his new life. He got to know The Azure Flare and discovered he was also the human designer, David Craft - a man with one older sister and two younger sisters and an extremely troubling past.

They grew close, treating each other as if they were brothers, and David did his best to raise a boy he still knew nothing about. After his first year of living with David, he took on the identity The Ruby Devil, intent on helping The Azure Flare in being a hero.

The End of the Ruby Devil

Two more years flew by and things grew increasingly tense for Valarius over the years. He was growing and his old lessons from his dark fairy teachers were nagging him more and more; according to them, humans had plans to hurt you or use you whenever they were nice, and he couldn't help being suspicious of the man he wanted so badly to trust.

His worries and fears escalated until he snapped, determined to destroy David before the day came he would be destroyed. Before he could think better of himself, he'd run away, done a fantastic job of robbing a Skyway City bank, taken a hostage, and then stabbed him brutally in the throat in the alley behind the bank.

It wasn't until The Azure Flare was standing over him, looking completely and totally devestated, that his actions caught up with him. He didn't struggle as his mentor took him and silently lead him out of the alley while the medics rushed in to save the poor boy he'd stabbed; the sound of sirens suddenly seeming very distant.

The trip to the prison seemed all too quick to Valarius, the firm grip of David's hands on his shoulders giving the clear signal that he was not to talk or argue. He wouldn't have known what to say anyway.

Time in the Zig

Valarius spent nearly a year inside the walls of the Ziggursky Penitentiary and it was during this time that he met his lover, Lucas Mason. The other man had been in the cell next to his for some time and Valarius was apparantly the first one placed next to him in some number of years.

Over time, they grew from detatched quiet to a quiet friendship and from there, a deep love that revolved around several nights of them holding hands through a small hole in the wall near the floor. They gave each other hope and strength and vowed that they'd make it out of the Zig together or not at all.

When Arachnos arrived to bust out several heavy hitters, it provided just that opportunity; they were able to escape in the chaos and make their way to Rogue Isles where they set up new lives working for Arachnos.

Working for the Arachnos

His time working with Lucas for the Arachnos was a decently quiet time that consisted of running a lot of trivial errands. However, it was during this time that he met the twin he'd been parted from in the interdimensional club, Pocket D. The first meeting went terribly, resulting in an argument that ran close to becoming a fist-fight.

Unfortunately, frequent visits to Pocket D on both sides meant that Joey and Valarius ran into each other often, and it almost always resulted in fights at the beginning. As time passed and they saw each other more, the arguments started to die down until their relationship had almost become friendly without even being noticed.

Exposure to his brother's values and ideals made Valarius remember his past when he was a hero and it made him crave a life better than scrounging for survival on the Rogue Isles. After only a year of working for the Arachnos, he and Lucas abandoned their life on the Isles and slipped back into Paragon in secret with the help of Joey and several of his friends.

Return to Paragon City

Valarius disguised as Jacob Arnolds.

After his return to Paragon City with Lucas, Valarius' life improved greatly. He managed to repair his relationship with Joey, make friends with several of Joey's classmates, become reacquainted with his mother, and even repair his friendship with David.

He spent the summer studying with Joey's help with the intention of getting into high school for what would be his senior year, and he just managed to pass his test. In August of 2008 he entered Atlas Park High in the human disguise of Jacob Arnolds, Joey Arnolds' long-lost twin brother who struggles to keep up his grades, and supposedly only got on the football team because of his "friendship" with it's strongest players.

Despite all this, Valarius still insists that he is a villain now and has no intention of ever becoming a hero again. Lucas remains by his side and they live together in a home provided by Lucas' family in Atlas Park.

His father and the dimension the fairies live in has yet to be discovered.

(17-years-old by the time he enters high school / current age)
