Personality
Jeannie is happy, energetic, very family oriented and incredibly old fashioned. She believes that women should be mothers and homemakers above all else; jobs are optional if a husband can provide for the family by himself. Now, not to say that she believes that women should be barred from anything, but she does certainly have a rather unfavorable opinion that she keeps to herself. She loves babies, clothes, cooking, and is generally submissive to boys; they know best, according to what she was taught.
She's still Aether, however, and thus still has similarities with her Primal counterpart. Namely, her staunch belief in not taking advantage of people, and that, even though some decisions are mistakes, people should be allowed to choose their own path in life. Jeannie just chooses not to stand up to fight for this, however. "That's for boys to do," as she would say. And she's very stubborn about this, so most of her power ends up being used for household chores rather than crimefighting.
History
Jeannie's background is very similar to Aether's with some key differences. They share the same name, birthdate, and their parents have the same names, but due to Hamidon's destruction of Praetorian Earth Jeannie was born in Praetoria; with the constant monitoring of the people's thoughts, her parents never took on the abusive quality that Aether's did. Intensive therapy and conditioning prevented it. They may have been incredibly traditional to the point of seeming almost backwards to their neighbors, but never did they try to strike her. It's because of this fact that what they taught her seemed so benign and thus easier for Jeannie to accept, unlike Aether.
Jeannie went through school and had plenty of friends throughout her life. She was well liked, and even though she cried easily when someone did picked on her she recovered quickly. Her best friend in high school was Benjamin Tully, who was on several sports teams in addition to being highly intelligent. Their school years were relatively uneventful; they graduated (barely in Jeannie's case) and intended to go to a party with all their friends. Jeannie's parents consented since it was being held practically next door to their home. While attending the party there was an explosion from a firefight that broke out nearby. The official story was a group of Destroyers had spilled into the neighborhood and leveled it in a fight with the PPD.
Unofficially, Powers Division had raided her parents' home looking for an experimental "serum" intended to artificially create Incarnates. The explosion resulted from the instability caused when Susan's creation was exposed to the PD's energy weapons. While everyone else was killed, Jeannie and Ben were altered by her mother's creation; Jeannie became much like a black hole, and the resulting trauma snapped her mind for the most part. Ben vanished, leaving Jeannie to wander Praetoria alone.
The "blackout anomaly" became a bit of an urban legend for the most part. She was nonaggressive and didn't cause much damage, but Jeannie did have a bad habit of feeding on energy sources; Seers didn't enjoy her presence either, since one unlucky Seer tried to contact Jeannie telepathically and ended up in a coma. After roughly two years, and still no interest in her capture or study, Jeannie wandered into Studio 55...and thus, Pocket D. Aether's friends eventually stumbled across, identified, and miraculously found a way to restore her sanity and physical body. Unable or unaware of a means to return home, Jeannie stayed with Aether and even developed a kind of sisterly relationship with the tomboyish double. Troubles rarely keep her down for long and she began putting a new life together.
When she met Garret Anderson, the son of Battle Ready Organization leader and hero Kasun Anderson, Jeannie's roots in Primal Earth were cemented. He was cute, well dressed, polite, and made her laugh after she relaxed enough around him to not blush madly and turn into a turtle. She admired his musical talent and swooned when he displayed his invulnerability and strength. They began dating and their relationship progressed quickly into marriage. Jeannie's argument? Hot pants. Garret couldn't say no and proposed shortly after seeing her parade around.
Currently Jeannie and Garret remain happily married, living in Faultline with their young son, Gavin, who was born December 12th, 2011. Jeannie is a housewife and stays with Gavin while Garret supports them with his musical and hero career. She occasionally tortures Aether by making her babysit so she and Garret can have date nights, too.
Powers
At their core, Jeannie's powers are still much the same as Aether's. They manifest differently because of the difference in mental states. Aether's are more internalized while Jeannie's are more external.
- Gravity Control: This is just the easiest method of using her powers. Jeannie enjoys being anchored and settled down, and the sense of security that it instills. Holding onto what she knows is what she's best at.
- Kinetic Manipulation: Not every world is perfect and even Jeannie thinks some things need to be changed. She just thinks that being hands on and aggressive is decidely not appropriate for girls. This ability stems from her desire to manipulate the world around her; whereas Aether punches people, Jeannie tries appealing to their better nature.
- Intangibility: One shouldn't hit girls. Ever.
- Flight: Jeannie fully supports the ability to choose how to life your own life. She doesn't see why one should sacrifice security for freedom or vice versa. She isn't running from anything, and instead manages to fly on "happy thoughts."
Much like Aether, if Jeannie's mindset ever changes so too would her powers.
