Background
An enigmatic young man, Vermilion is a mutant currently reformed from his previous albeit very brief criminal endeavor. His ability is commonly sought after by numerous rival alignments, and it is unknown where his true intentions lie. No substantial information is publically available regarding this individual.
Powers
Pheromone Manipulation
The primary aspect of Vermilion's mutation (or sometimes refered to as 'curse') is his anatomy's constant generation and passive radiation of a psychoactive pheromone, in which is released from the interior of his body through any exit available as what is perceived to be a red tinted chaft or dust-like substance as a tangible means of transfer. While nearly undetectable by the human eye, larger quantities of the pheromone becomes visible while the red dust collects into more dense clouds. The dust in which the pheromone is utilized through is easily absorbed into the body by others; especially through the skin, though substantial affliction is viable within a proximity of approximately five feet; further distances where the pheromone dissipates are less effective (This makes direct skin to skin contact the fastest means of transfer and absorption).
The unidentified psychoactive pheromone directly affects the system (in it's basic state, the pheromone intensifies general interest and curiosity, attraction, or sexual arousal, depending on the individual), where Vermilion's mutation enables him to alter the chemical signature of the pheromone and thus alter it's effect on affected targets. He has demonstrated a variety of feats, including altering moods, inducing pain or numbness, communicating beyond the five basic senses, stimulating/degrading regenerative or cerebral phenomena, and virtually any other phenomena in which relies on chemical signals of communication. Unfortunately, he is only able to maintain this alteration of the pheromone for short periods of time, as prolong changes induce severe physical strain. He has recently learned how to more accurately psionically alter the direction of larger amounts of the pheromone toward intended victims over short distances and more accurately afflict them without affecting unitended targets as commonly.
The pheromone has proven inaffective against some types of alien lifeforms whom possess alternate physiological anatomies, some demonic beings, most if not all undead beings whose anatomies no longer function with human/living similarity (such as vampires or zombies), and of course beings that are robotic, or otherwise not bio. Other minor categories exist, though they are rare. Vice-versa the pheromone heavily affects primates specifically amongst mammals, or those vulnerable to pheromonal signals.
Vermilion is however, unaware that his power has a certain effect on him as well - in some cases (where attraction to one another exists, even without stimulation) linking two pheromonal signatures together. For example, if affecting someone with his arousal pheromone, he may experience a "feedback" signal that plagues him with an almost similar effect; a powerful urge that is usually very difficult to break from until a significant relief of that urge occurs. With emotional-altering pheromone signatures, the effects mimic empathy.
Enhanced Durability
A rather strange and perhaps overlooked aspect of his mutation is his skin's superior density and resistance to injury compared to the average human's. He is able to prevent lesser velocity gunfire from penetrating his flesh, and even resist tearing most effectively.
Physical Properties
The constant flow of the red pheromone dust from his body has rendered his entire body an assumed permanent stained red colouration (most notably his skin and hair). The dust has also proven to destroy most fabrics, which makes attire difficult to use. A special fabric has been recently developed by Icon, which blocks the pheromone from seeping through it. This uncomfortable material is his only means of clothing, in which he prefers less of.
Coping
Recently, Vermilion was granted technology (his belt) that enables him to control his pheromonal output utilizing a force-field system. By activating a thin, area field enveloping and lacing perfectly over his entire shape, he is able to trap and siphon his own radiation within capsules. This also enables him to wear clothing over the force-field, which is undetectable visually. Different force-field setting enable different sections of his body to be exposed, thus enabling him to eat, drink and rid of waste, or even use his power in emergency situations.
