Song of Origins
Kei was born in a small city in Chiba, Japan. He was an upbeat kid who loved to listen to X-Japan and watch anime. He didn't do too well in school except for music and literature, excelling in both considerably.
Kei began participating in talent shows and school festivals during middle school, singing his favorite J-rock songs. His parents supported him; his mother making him some Visual Kei costumes to wear. Each time, his costume became more extravagant.
In high school, he dyed his hair purple and began accessorizing with his school uniform, wearing a purple chain necklace and painting his nails black. Kei learned English at school and began writing songs in both English and Japanese. At this point, Kei was absolutely certain he wanted to become a musician, specifically a Visual Kei musician. He also picked up a rather unusual hobby: Iaijutsu. It was the opposite of his wild personality - calm, disciplined, and fluid - yet he was absolutely in love with the sport.
Near the end of high school, EMI Japan held a competition in Tokyo, which was only a train ride from Chiba, to find a new artist for the label. Kei hopped a train, decked out in purple and black with matching purple shades, and entered the contest, singing Vanilla by GACKT. He sang his heart out with a smile. After all, he was doing something he was incredibly passionate about, and it showed, as he won the contest with ease.
Kei began singing almost immediately. He finished high school while making music. It was a tight schedule but he kept it up and still managed to squeeze in iaijutsu on the side. After graduation, he went full-time to making music. He performed at conventions (his love of anime and tokusatsu never dwindled) and wherever he could. He just liked what he did. He wasn't the most popular j-rocker, but he did have his niche following.
Several years later, Kei was offered the opportunity to start working on an American album. His idols, X-Japan, had done the same. He took the opportunity to move to America, particularly the so-called city of heroes. It was like living in anime, he thought. Sure enough, it was.
He began teaching iaijutsu in Galaxy City while making music. He registered with City Hall under the name Visual Kei, which was accidentally shortened to Visual K during processing. He liked the play on his name and kept it. Kei didn't do any heroing at first until some Hellions decided it was a good idea to attempt to mug a guy with a katana. So he turned to heroing.
Wild Personality
Kei is incredibly ambitious. He is loud and always smiling. His English always comes across with a thick Engrishy accent. Most of it makes sense but some of it is just ridiculous.
When behind a katana, his training in the traditions of iaijutsu come forward, and he's calm and cool.
