  Detailed History

     Enzerouva

Enzerouva and Balsteric, both conjoined with Mefnanim hosts, were pursuing three nictus who absconded a previously captured cyst that was scheduled for destruction. Of the three, Maktur was the only one dominating a Hulmanim carrying the cyst in question, the other two - Praka and Dalmor - were 'riding' inside the cyst itself. The battle over the captured cyst resulted in the death of two Peacebringers. Enzerouva and Balsteric were assigned to the recapture or destruction of the cyst, as well as the termination of the nictus.

This pursuit spanned three star systems and three Earth decades, with the majority of the time spent in hyperspace in a Kheldian version of a high speed chase. The final confrontation occurred at Proxima, in the Alpha Centauri system. The red dwarf was in one of its more active flare phases, and Maktur hoped to use the magnetic flares to hide and escape.

The Peacebringers split up to outflank Maktur: Balsteric pursued while Enzerouva orbited the star in the opposite direction. Their orbit was approximately twenty kilometers above the chromosphere, and the maneuver nearly succeeded. However, as the pincer move was coming to fruition, all were caught by surprise from a newly formed flare. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem. However, the cyst had been previously damaged and exploded, killing all three of the hosts and annihilating the three nictus as well as Balsteric, who was closest. Enzerouva was flung into a higher orbit when her host died.

She spent the next six months simply orbiting the star in mourning over the hosts of both herself and Balsteric, as well as Balsteric himself.

     Joshua Abrams

Josh and his wife Rebecca met at their jobs as maintenance workers in the Terra Volta reactor. They were married five months later from a whirlwind romance that was the 'talk of the workplace'.

During one of the many assaults on the reactor, Rikti forces breached containment and flooded the building with hard radiation - exposing all the workers to gamma and x-ray radiation for 28 minutes. The workers received anywhere from 193 to 386 REMs, depending on where they were during the assault. After the Rikti were defeated, the group of heroes contained the breach and tended the workers until emergency services arrived.

In the aftermath of the assault, eighteen of the workers that were closest to the breach died from radiation poisoning within three days, and five others in the two weeks after. The remainder that were exposed either recovered fully, developed cancer from their exposure, or were given radiation based super powers.

Unfortunately, Rebecca fell into the second category. Rebecca developed aggressive thyroid cancer, and died four months later. She refused treatment due to the fact that she was pregnant, and didn't want to endanger the baby. The doctors performed a Cesarean immediately after her death, but the boy was too premature to survive. Unfortunately, little Jacob only survived a week.

Joshua fell into a deep depression after the death of his family. The straw that broke his back was when he was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer. Faced with dying horribly as his wife did was too much for him to endure. He walked to Independence Bridge and climbed to the top of one of the towers, intending to end his own life. It was the only way he could see that would end his suffering.

     The Joining

It was at this moment when Enzerouva arrived on Earth, as this was the closest location to report on what had happened at Proxima. While she was attempting to locate Sunstorm, she felt an anguish that was stronger than her own. Dipping down into Independence Port, she found the source as it leaped from the top of the tower.

Panicked from the sight of someone attempting suicide, she flew down and caught Joshua, then carried the screaming man back to the top. Joshua tried to fight her off, but since she was nothing but simple energy, there was nothing for him to kick or push back against. She held him at the top of the tower until he stopped struggling. They spent the next few hours talking, arguing, and crying over their lost loved ones.

As dawn approached, Josh was finally convinced that ending his life wasn't the answer. It was at this point when he asked if joining would cure his cancer. Even though Enzerouva was taken aback by the question, she told him yes. The center of her being reached out to the heart of him then.

When Josh told her where Sunstorm was located, she took him to Atlas Park to both report in and get permission to merge with Joshua. It took less time to convince Sunstorm of the validity of their claim than Enzerouva expected. With the blessings of the Kheldian hierarchy on Earth, they held a formal joining ceremony the following day.

  Trivia

Vozh is a combination-anagram of both of their names.

They have a dual personality. Unlike other Kheldian/Human unions, they have kept their minds separate. If it weren't for the voice, one would not know which of them would be talking at any given moment. Their combined grief over their spouses is the mental barrier between them. However, as time goes on, they are becoming more emotionally attached to one another. Sunstorm has predicted that they will merge completely within a years time.

Vozh's voice will change to an unnatural lower pitch when Enzerouva speaks. She does this due to Josh's love of the television show, Spacegate: Marine Group 1, and it amuses her to no end.

Joshua has retired from his duties at the Independence Port Power Station. The assault that gave him and his wife cancer has left a lasting fear of the place. He was awarded a five million dollar wrongful death settlement from Paragon City. Twenty Three others were also given the same amount. Eighteen of them have since died from complications due to cancer. Two are in remission, and the other three are now fledgling heroes.
