Former Supergroup: League of Valor (Defunct)
Current: None
Powers
Invulnerability
WarHound is nigh invulnerable to normal damage. Neither knives nor bullets seem to faze him. The only explanation to his powers from the now defunct League of Valor’s scientists is that his genetic makeup is severely mutated.
Strength
WarHounds great size and mutant genetics has caused him to be abnormally strong. Ignorant of true fighting styles, his strength is underutilized as a power
Leaping
Due to enhanced strength, and mutated musculature, WarHound is able to leap incredible distances.
Enhanced Senses
WarHound has a highly developed sense of smell and hearing. He can track people by scent, and hear noises well beyond the range of normal humans.
Abilities
WarHound has but one ability outside of his mutated genetics. He seems to have a natural inclination to playing the piano. He plays at a very advanced level, being able to duplicate any song he has heard. He does not, however, have any musical training and cannot read music.
Weaknesses
Mental Attacks
Whether due to his incredibly small intellect or some unknown aberration in his mutation, Hound is incredibly susceptible to Psionic attacks. He has not shown any defense against them. Some of his worst nightmares include being possessed by a powerful mentalist.
Sonic Attacks
Due to his highly developed hearing, WarHound is very vulnerable to sonic warfare.
Color Blindness
WarHound is color blind. He can differentiate shades, but cannot tell true colors.
Equipment
Teleportation Device
Early on during his time with the League of Valor, War Hound was given a small portable teleportation device. Hound has the uncanny ability to find people and locations due to his enhanced sense of smell and hearing. He is also durable enough to get to almost any location, even under heavy fire from enemies.
Due to this, the League presented him with this teleportation device to aid them in both getting around dangerous battlefields, and also for Hound to assist in rescue attempts.
Character History
The first known sighting of the “hero” known as WarHound was when he was found chained to a garage, by the League of Valor. The League was doing a routine patrol, busting up a superadine ring in Kings Row when they found the huge man curled up in the corner of an old garage and junkyard.
The leader of the Skulls ring was a mentalist known as The Washer. Little is known of why WarHound was kept there, but it was obvious that the mentalist was keeping him chained by force of will. The League freed the young mutant, clothed him, fed him, and took him back to Atlas Park with them.
Body of a god, mind of a child, is how Rael put it. Rael was one of the Leagues members, him and his wife took Hound in and began teaching him the ways of the world. It was during this time that the League took him to get his Hero Id. Barely able to read or write, and almost totally unable to speak coherently, Hound nearly failed the simple test that was given to him. However, Paragon City officials could see that the gentle giant truly wanted to help. They also figured that with his easily moldable personality, it would be better to have him as an ally, then a potential threat. He was given a Hero License and given into the care of the League.
WarHound began putting the hurt on crime in the streets, wearing clothes he was able to scrounge up, and a pair of sunglasses given to him as a joke. The glasses, explained Rael, would help him hide his identity. Hound was overjoyed at having a “Secret Identity”. He took to following members of the League around mimicking their battle cries and fighting styles. In one momentous occasion, Hound showed up at the teams’ base dressed just like one of his idols, Ascendant. His new costume was an exact replica of Ascendants, down to the emblem on his chest, and the threading on the gloves. No one, to this day, knows where Hound got that costume. It is, however, something that he has never gotten rid of.
Days after the ceremony honoring the great Hero 1, WarHound disappeared. One day he was fighting crime in Crey’s Folly, the next he was simply gone. The beacon given to him by the League did not register him at all. It did not register loss of life; it simply winked out of existence.
After some time the League broke apart, all of the heroes going to differing groups, some retiring, some moving to different timelines. Hound was not seen in Paragon city again… That was, until now. Without word or warning, WarHound was back in Paragon city. He showed up back where he disappeared. Crey’s Folly. He was seen fighting the Nemesis as if he had never left. No one is quite sure what happened to him in the years he was gone. Of course, no one is really asking either. Group less, Friendless, and Alone, he is wandering around looking for a home.
