Xanadul
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree:
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.
A Stately Pleasure-Dome
Xanadul is an ancient realm, located deep within the Himalyas and obscured from the world at large by alien technologies designed to dampen signals and transmissions. In all ways it is a lost world, one that exists at a constant pleasurable and warm climate with lush foliage, sunshine and the peaceful sound of birdsong. In many ways it is like Kublai Khan's idyllic summer retreat of Xanadu as described in Coleridge's poem yet in many ways it is different.
Xanadul was founded aeons ago, when the world was young by an alien race that has been long forgotten. In many ways it was their 'ark' with genetic samples from myriad species being collected and stored over billions of years up until approximately eight thousand years ago, when the final stage of their project was activated before they left the planet to never be seen again. These samples, taken from a number of different species were dramatically accelerated through the evolutionary processes, creating a new 'race' known as the Xanadulians.
