Anne Dieu le Veut is the Nom de Guerre, of French born pirate captain Marie-Anne Dominique du Pres. She received her nickname of Dieu le Veut (pronounced Due lay Voot which means God Wants or God Wills it) because her will was so strong, that whatever she wanted, it was as if God himself wanted it too. The frigate, Buccaneer, is Anne's pirate ship who's home port is currently Sharkhead Island or Port Oaks. When not "working," Anne can be found drinking rum in Pocket D.

Biography

Early Life

Marie-Anne Dominique du Pres or, "Anne," as she prefers to be called, was born in Paris, France circa the late 1650s to a poor cobbler and his wife. At the age of eight, her father was sent to the Bastille because he could not pay back is creditors. This forced Anne to become a thief and pickpocket on the streets of Paris. She was caught and because she was an underage girl, she was made a Fille du Roi (Daughter of the King - a ward of the state).

Tortuga

Anne was deported from France to Tortuga, as many Fille de Roi were to be wives of colonist in the new world, by the order of governor Betrand d’Ogeron de la Bouere, a former Pirate and adventurer, won the post of governor of Tortuga through the power of the West India Trading Company, in 1665.

On her arrival in Tortuga, in 1669, Anne was "adopted" by wealthy sugarcane planter, Andre du Pres, as a maid and companion to his young daughter, Josephine.

Laurens de Graaf

In 1683, Anne’s husband, Pierre Le Long accused the famous buccaneer and pirate, Laurens de Graff, of cheating during a card game. A duel between Le long and de Graaf ensued to which Le Long was killed. Anne challenged Laurens to a duel to avenge her husbands death (other sources claims she heard him insult her), and while Laurens drew his sword, Anne drew her pistol. Laurens then succumbed saying he would not fight a woman; he then proposed to her on the spot in admiration of her courage, and she accepted.

Personality

Anne is brave to a fault, a stern task mistress, and ruthless and unforgiving as the sea. She tends to be laconic in nature and posesses an old world charm and manners. Anne loves being a pirate and buccaneer, revelling in the freedom it grants her. Anne is no murderer, however, if someone gets on her way, she will not hesitate to kill giving the offender fair warning to stand aside, or else!

Trobes

Trobes are tricks of the trade for writing fiction. Tropes are devices and conventions that a writer can reasonably rely on as being present in the audience members' minds and expectations. On the whole, tropes are not clichés. The word clichéd means "stereotyped and trite." In other words, dull and uninteresting.

(The use of trobes is to give the reader some fun themes and insight as to what the author (me) is trying to convey when roleplaying Anne. Enjoy!)
