Personality

Currently has the personality of a teenager. He can be stubborn if he thinks he is on the right track. With all that knowledge handed to him by interfacing with the world wide web and various other computer systems to back him up he can arrogant too. It has been suggested his personality will evolve to a more adult state over time. He has started learning to stop using the vernaculars of "It" "Self" and "This Unit" but has a long way to go with the learning. Astral goes to great lengths to acquire knowledge and is still saddened by being the death of the one he was able to call "Father" for only a few of his first hours of his current life if the situation is brought up.

Powers

Able to harness both solar power and his own internal power source. With this he can produce beams of force from his hands and eyes. Astral also has superhuman strength due to his being a technologically advanced robot.

Character History

In the Beginning there were the Protectors of the Holy Eternal Flame. The Flame brought light and hope through out the worlds (even if some worlds did not know it). The Keepers chose their champions, The Virdian Sentinel and the Cosmic Guard. Plus their herald The Emerald Sentinel. And all was good and right. Yet through out the millenia the Flame itself grew restless as its Keepers watched the worlds evolve, live and die.

It watched a particular backwater world. A shining jewel and sent its representitives to the world. It saw the coming of the science-magic Lords of Elysium, the first wave of the Ruularu from other dimensions, collisions of the gods, man controlling his sciences and enviroment, death, destruction, famine, crime, good, enlightenment, hope and kindness. And a small fragment of itself wondered "what if. . ."

Crey Labs December 25, 1985

"Countess, it just is not going right. The alloy structure is strange. I can in no way figure out how to make it run."

"Well you had better find away. You will be wasting valuable company money if you do not figure away. My archeologists un-earthed in in a very private spot. All the markings on the buildings indicated that it would work. The tablets even enscribed how to build its power source."

"Madam nothing on this world can generate what the inscriptions say."

"Then you had better figure a way. Something, maybe contact your source in the Circle of Thorns. Use one of their hellfire forges. But put that thing together."

"Yes we'll continue working on the problem."

The line went dead. The scientist looked at the "body" on the worktable. "Well my friend we are in a predicament aren't we. Your materials are like nothing we have yet to see. Yet you are designed almost exactly like a human right down to the nerve endings."

The blank eye ports stared up at him out of the golden yellow face. He had finished aligning what the archeolgists loosely translated as solar cells. By all intents and purposes that was what powered the android. Yet no matter how much of various frequencies of light he tried nothing worked. He knew he was on a deadline, literally. Various rumors of scientists who displeased the Countess had reached him. The underlying threat was in the latest of several conversations. She wanted a weapon and this was a chance to prove himself to her.

Working all through the night he finally took to the cot in the corner of the lab to catch some sleep before resuming attempts to fix the robot. He woke as a loud whistling jangled all of his nerves. A flash of light and an explosion threw him across the lab. When the dust cleared he looked at the android. It lay on its table softly glowing in the light of the pre-dawn cast through the hole in the ceiling.

It slowly turned its head and looked at him. "Well are you not the greatest Christmas present one could ask for?"

It tracked his movements as he continued to clean the lab and talk. "Merry. . .Christmas, Father.", it said back to him. The scientist jumped at that.

"You. . . you spoke!"

It sat up and looked around at the mess. "Self. . .help. . .you?" Pointing, light flashed out of its palms and eyes growing ever brighter. The destroyed lab was repaired in a matter of an hour. The android tracked the scientist around the lab from its sitting position on the table. Its unblinking glowing eyes became increasingly un-nerving for him.

Then it noticed the computer. One moment it was sitting on the table the next it had its hand inside the computer. The circuits on its outter shell shown brightly. "Knowledge." was all it said. It began absorbing the information. Alarms began to sound in other parts of the building. The scientist heard the running of feet Guards burst through the door of the lab.

"There is a security breach located here." the security officer noticed the android. "Holy mother of. . .What the hell is that thing!" Instantly the guards went into firing stances.

"No! Don't shoot!"

"Hostiles detected." it looked at the guards. "Protect." it fired off a beam of light instantly seeming to disintigrate the guard. They opened fire.

"No! No! Stop! Gak!"

It phased out of synch then phased back in. Firing its light beams. "Hostiles! You will put down weapons now. Units have been temporal displaced to holding cells detected in basement."

It sees the scientist on the floor with a bullet through him. "Taking of life against directives. Yet self feels. . .feels?. . .Yes feels. Anger. Strange. Emotion. I must explore this."

It disappeared from the lab.
