Background
Born in Virginia, Harald was raised there most of the year, spending summers with his grandmother in Tennessee, working in her barbecue restaurant. Growing up, Harald was the perfect All-American boy. He excelled in sports, school, and social activities. He was High School Valedictorian, Prom King, Captain of the Baseball Team. He did everything perfectly. He dated the head cheerleader, he was friends with everyone.
Eventually, he came to Paragon to study business. A marketing major. Sometime shortly after his 22nd birthday, however, he learned that he was the heir to a divine birthright: A Shard of Divine Power, The Essence of the Slain Asgardian Balder, was living within him.
Continuing his college education, Harald retired from athletics and registered himself as a hero. In his earliest days of heroics, he fought by himself, wielding a broadsword. However, he found the weapon a bit too offensive and harder to spare opponents lives with. Some time before his technique change, he had several team-ups with the wise-cracking Avenging Mantis. Indeed, it was along with Mantis that he met several members of the supergroup Nova Watch. Persuaded by gingersnap cookies and the promise of camraderie, Harald placed an application with the group.
Shortly after his weaponry change to the somewhat more defensive mace, Harald began to team up with Nova Watch and was eventually admitted into their ranks.
Currently, Harald is living in Paragon City, attending classes, and trying to see his new girlfriend, Incinerette.
Powers and Abilities
Overview
Harald is possessed by a shard of Divine Essence. The glory and power of the Aesir Balder reside in his flesh, and empower his abilities. While not a god himself, Balder is empowered by them.
Invulnerability
Mythologically, Balder was immune to all harm, save Misteltoe. It was this plant, which, part of a prank by the vile Loki, caused Balder to be slain. Harald has received a large portion of this Invincibility. Whilst not wholly immune to harm he is nigh invulnerable. Bullets, blades, lasers and flame all cause little to no harm. However, as this is a fact of having an invincible body, his mind is not so protected, and psionic attacks can harm him fully.
Enhanced Physique
Harald's entire body has been strengthened and fortified by the divine. He is in all ways superhuman, physically. He can bench press over a half a ton, which, while not nearly as impressive as many, is decidedly superhuman. His reactions are 4-5 times that of a normal human, his endurance is nothing short of mythical, and he can run in excess of 100 miles per hour.
Solar Emanations
As a god of Good and of the Sun, Balder's essence has empowered Harald with a portion of control over solar energy. When focused, he can empower himself with a portion of the sun's energy. This is not only what grants him his immense speed, but he can also cause literal sunlight to shine forth from himself. However, his also happens, at times, against his will, when embarrassed, pleased, angered, or otherwise stressed.
Skilled Sportsman
Even before his divine 'upgrade', Harald was a great athlete. While he specialized in Baseball and Track events, he was an all-purpose athlete. He enjoyed Basketball, Soccer, Lacrosse, Golf, Archery, Rowing, even Gymnastics. If he had been so inclined, he could have gone to college on an athletics scholarship, and, maybe, with luck, played semi-pro Baseball. His position was short stop.
Highly Charismatic
Again, this skill is a blending of his natural mortal talents and being a vessel for the most pleasant of Aesir. Harald is a nice guy. Charming, really. Friendly, outgoing, compassionate, funny. He is the guy first in line for a beer, the shoulder to cry on, the friend to help you get over a bad breakup, and the one whom you come to for a joke.
This initially led him down a path of being a bit promiscuous, as women loved him and he loved to see them happy. Lately, however, he has settled down a bit.
Expert Dancer
An extension of his athletic ability, and his constant partying and formal events, Harald is a skilled dancer. While he is specialized in ballroom dance, he can break, line, tango, and even pop and lock.
Master of Medieval Arms
This skill is wholly imparted by the essence of Balder. The Aesir were warrior gods. As such, Harald has been imbued with a mastery of all arms used by the Aesir. From battle maces to broadswords, hammers to spear, bow to battle axe. While Harald prefers to wield a gilded hammer in battle, he also is fond of the mace. When not "in uniform" he sometimes wields a baseball bat or a sledge-hammer in place of his usual arms.
Equipment
Armor
Harald owns a suit of armor, custom designed for him by Serge. While crafted of form-fitting plates of orbital titanium, the armor is coated in a thin layer of Asgardian Gold. Highly resistant to dents, scratches, and other damage. The armor is actually, however, less durable than Balderson himself, but it stands up to battle far better than a t-shirt and jeans. Included in the suit is a winged helmet. When he can afford to do so, Harald plans to line the helmet with some psionic-resistant metal.
Blunt Weapons
While his primary arm is a large, steel and gold Warhammer, Harald also owns an assortment of maces, clubs, and hardwood baseball bats.

Balderson is inspired by 3 main things. The TT RPGs Scion and Exalted, as well as my love of Marvel's Thor.
