Manifests via "The Torch of Radio" |
DJ Vangelus is a regular contributor to The Cape. He often focuses on relaying music not commonly heard in North America, often goth, metal, or industrial. His selection has been known to contain far more genres than that, and he often claims to not believe in the idea of musical genres, citing all music he listens to as "music I like".

History
After an audio audition at The Cape, Vangelus was pleased to discover that he was offered a regular weekly show. Unknown to anyone else, the voice that secured the position was not Vangelus's, but that of another entity known as DJ Vangelus.
The connection between the two is most clearly seen as a strange torch that manifests in Vangelus's hand when he and DJ Vangelus are broadcasting. The "Torch of Radio" does not seem to follow the laws of physics, many times imploding or appearing out of nowhere. Also, on the few occasions that DJ Vangelus's signal has been cut off due to technical difficulty on his end, the Torch of Radio has been seen to self-destruct rather abruptly.
Vangelus and DJ Vangelus first met when DJ Vangelus, after several years of failed attempts, made contact with another Vangelus through the multiverse. He was surprised to discover that Paragon City's Vangelus was somewhat aware of a theory that DJ Vangelus had devoted some time to: The Vangelus Constant Theorem. Corroborating their notes, the pair realized that there was a good chance that every single dimension in the multiverse contained some iteration of Vangelus. DJ Vangelus verified this with descriptions of the other Vangeli he had monitored, but was unable to make contact with.
Given the confusing nature of their relation, as well as the strange things mentioned by DJ Vangelus ('in-game correspondant', 'developers', 'newest issue of content', 'characters'), many listeners simply assume that DJ Vangelus is the result of Vangelus's usual strange antics.
OOC Trivia
- DJ Vangelus's first show with the Cape was an attempted in-character broadcast as both Shinsektor and Daisuke Mugen. It was a one-hour block during the Cape's first EROS event in the now-defunct Paragon Dance Party. Also making her broadcast debut was @Ann broadcasting as Krickette.
- A staple of the Vangelations program is an "8 o'clock ritual" about 2 hours in. The ritual was originally Darkmateria's Picard Song, followed by an iteration of the Pepsiman theme. Currently, the first component varies between Darkmateria's three Star Trek remixes (The Picard Song, The Worf Song, Frame of Mind), and DJ Vangelus has been seeking other additions to its song pool.
