Ethan's Origins

((10/4/2009)) Currently little is known of Ethan Black's origins, as his memory seems to have been recently disrupted. Appearing in public in paragon City several weeks ago, he had seemingly been recently discharged from a hospitla within the city. While socially Inept, Ethan is good at heart, and aspires to become a great hero. This pushed him into contacting the The Palladium Sentry via computer link, and he was soon inducted into the organization by Light of the Phoenix(Now known to Ehtan as Phe), who beleived his intent to be pure, and worthy of their cause.

Meeting Umbral Warwolf at their base, Ethan reluctantly gave the wolf the details of his past, and relayed the same information to Phe later also. becoming uncomfortable nearly tot he point of tears on both occasions, Ethan told of how on his way to Paragon from London, 5 months before, his flight crashed while passing over Perez park, with ethan recalling a burning sensation, and the complete vaporization of all the other passengers.

Awakening in his hospital bed, three months later, (or so he was told by doctors,) Ethan found himself to have been magically changed. he had been shapeshifted into a strange cat/human hybrid, and a pair of large feathered wings adorned his back. He also found that he had the ability to call upon immense spectral strength, and even touch the life energy of those around him. This did however come at a great price, one aspect of which was his inability to sleep restfully, a strange voice and horrific nightmares haunting him every time he closed his eyes.

The Dark Thorn

After asking for Phe's help in seeking the nature of his powers, (Having grown worried at the messages the voice in his dreams were sending him,) Phe began a small investigation on her own, with the assistance of Umbral. Together they managed to find a link between his powers and the Circle of Thorns, Albeit an obscure one.

Light of the Phoenix and Umbral Warwolf learned of a sub-cult of the Thorns, known as the Black Thorn, who focused their talents on the ability to control life, or mor precisely, End it. They were a small sect of magi who who maintained a contingent of zombie thralls, lead by a powerful necromancer. In a suprise attack, Phe assaulted the Hideout of the Black Thorn, stealing an ancient crystal, reported to hodl the details of Ethan's condition within.

When the crystal's contents were scryed, they told of a dark magic, and a ritual goen awry. In an attempt to siphon the life from all passengers aboard Ethan's flight to Paragon, Ethan's latent magical power had caused the ritual to fail. The life energy that was intended to ressurect the old master of the Black Thorn, a powerful Lich, had been unwillingly bound to Ethan in a far weaker form, taining his powers and his mind. using the crystal, Phe was able to locate their second, (and primary,) lair, and destroy the life Siphons that were allowing the Black Thorn to maintain their 'attack' on Ethan's spiritual being. At this, their long-dead leader was called into being, in a corporeal double of Ethan. Realising that this was actually the lich, and not Ethan, Phe fought the creature, at first attempting to subdue it, but finding that it was more-or-less a spirit, fuelled by the life force of others, she had no choice but to fight creature, returning it's spirit to it's own body.

Ethan Recovers

With Phe's assistance, the pressure on Ethan's mind and powers was lifted, but it did leave him temporarily drained. At this Ethan disappeared for several days, leaving many worried, but appeared some days later, wearing Civillian clothes. He mentioned how he felt like he had been freed, and while still as shy, much of his anxiety had gone, along with the haunting nightmares. Ethan also told his friends of his rediscovered power, which granted him incredible speed and dexterity, the origin of which is still unknown.

Being freed of the grip of the Black Thorn, Ethan decided it would be better to take on a new name, and forge a new Identity as a hero, to mark a new accomplishment in his life. Taking ont he mantle of Black Chevron, he once again vowed to do his part for Paragon, under his new name.

Black Chevron

Ethan's new alias, Black Chevron, is a Magically powered scrapper, Posessing Incredible speed and Grace. Wearing a suit of Black and Yellow, with flat blades mounted on the bracers, he is blindingly quick and fearsome in combat. His dexterity also gives him the ability to move more stealthily than most.

Light of the Phoenix

Phe was the first other hero that Ethan made proper contact with, and he views her as one of his closest friends, a fact that Phe is quite oblivious to, seeing Ethan as a Colleague more than a friend. Phe has already been instrumental in aiding Ethan in developing his powers, and in rescuing him from the grip of the Black Thorn, despite having known him for only a few weeks.

Umbral Warwolf

Umbral is a shapeshifting hero, one form akin to that of a Council werewolf, the other, a human. Merged with a Kheldian, he is a powerful friend and Ally to Ethan, and appears even to have a romantic interest in him. Despite a breif and intimate liason between the pair, they have not publicly declared themseves a couple.

The Palladium Sentry

The Palladium Sentry welcomed Ethan with open arms, thanks to his strong values and his willingness to do justice, and help anyone, no matter the cost. Despite Ethan's overyly Shy, paranoid and generally sociophobic tendencies, the group has done their best to welcome him and make him feel at home in their ranks.

Ethan and the Future

Ethan sees the future in a much brighter light than before, and already feels like he's made many advances to becoming the hero he strives to be.
