Personality

Stephanie, since separating from her family due to her demonic transformation, has begun to cut loose and shows a large wild side. Her unique beauty is alluring to most men (And some women) and she enjoys the attention; mostly to help her cope with having her former life torn from her. Usually she is friendly and welcoming.

Character History

Religion and Family

Stephanie Smith was a lovely, petite and well off eighteen year old girl who was the third child in a family of four children. Her parents were devoted to religion; her father was a pastor and her mother taught at the Christian private school she attended. Her eldest sister, Kendra, wanted to teach at the same school after college. Henry, her sole brother, was seeking to find a path to becoming a pope. Her younger sister, Rita, wanted to run a bakery. Stephanie herself, however, wanted to go into acting. Unlike the rest of her family, however, she was more receptive to ‘blasphemers’ and ‘sinners’ such as gays, lesbians, atheists and others who were not god fearing worshippers.

Because of this she was the ‘un-favourite’ of her siblings, even with her punctual attendance of church. At the time things seemed to have been smoothing over. Then along came the Circle of Thorns...

Demon Summoning for Dummies

For years the Circle of Thorns had been trying to summon and bind a demon of incredible power known as Kilgoreja, the Invincible Lord of Fire. A greater demon of impressive power he briefly had a reign of terror over the world for three hundred years before being sealed. However he was unsealed in Cimerora by the follower of a defeated traitor general. After killing his liberator Kilgoreja began a second reign of horror but was defeated and sealed by Night-Wave with the help of the unknown Champion or Champions of Cimerora. How many and who these Champions may have been were lost to sands of time.

Night-Wave’s sealing spell was made by her namesake, Lord Night-Wave, a mage of incredible skill. This spell was made to seal the demon by his soul to the cave that was collapsed, leaving him to rot until a group of Circle of Thorns apprentices decided to impress their masters by summoning him. They took the notes of their masters and worked out a basic plan that would allow them to summon the beast. For that they needed a virgin to sacrifice. They staked out a Christian private school and kidnapped the one that looked most ‘virginal’, Stephanie.

Taking her to a remote part of Dark Astoria they began the ritual, green smoke clouding their offering as they planned to summon and bind the greater demon. They thought they had everything worked out.

They didn’t.

The spell made by Lord Night-Wave was complex enough that no one else knew exactly how it worked. In addition the summoning circle used by the Thorn Trainees while made correctly wasn’t made with the runes in the proper order. How these two spells reacted with each other is still unknown, but the end results were.

The demon’s body and power were being summoned, pulled by the incantation to the summoning circle but the spell kept Kilgoreja’s soul bound in place. Incantation pulled body and power and the spell refused to give up the soul. In this magical tug-o-war something had to give, and soon body and power were torn away, the trauma killing the soul of Kilgoreja.

Horned Demoness inside the Midnighter’s Club.

What happened next is something that no one can truly explain but what happened was the demon’s body and power merged with Stephanie giving her red skin, massive horns, a spaded tail and a leather outfit while making her grow to eight feet in height. Why and how is still unknown, only that it did. The apprentices were trying to overcome confusion as to what happened while Stephanie began to comprehend what happened to her.

Falling into a berserk rage Stephanie lashed out with flames and fists, killing the Thorns in a blind rage before beginning a rampage through Dark Astoria.

Breakdown

Shortly into her rampage the Midnight Squad’s Montague Castanella came to investigate, asking the Vindicators to accompany him as he felt a disturbance in the flow of magic during Kilgoreja’s botched summoning. The super hero team was shocked to find a giant, horned demoness ploughing through Banished Pantheon. Once done with them the berserk woman turned on the heroes, nearly decapitating Mynx and came close to frying Malaise alive. Despite this the team subdued the demonic being, allowing Malaise to enter her mind.

Malaise was able, after sometime, to calm her rage and brought her mind clarity (Although he complained that this wasn’t how he liked to use his powers). They managed to keep her panic down long enough to get her story and took her to the Midnighter’s Club in an effort to see what they could do to help her, only to find that they had no way to separate demon from human. They had to give her the unfortunate news; she may be a massive horned demoness for the rest of her life.

Ms. Liberty brought her parents over in an effort to console her only to have the Smiths decry her as a ‘demon’ and ‘inhuman beast’. As the parents were ushered out with harsh words by the Vindicators leader (And with a small request to Malaise to give them nightmares for the next month) Stephanie broke down, crying for hours, feeling for the first time in her life truly alone.

Rebuilding

After two weeks of doing nothing much of mentioning except bawling and sobbing she left the Club for the rest of Steel Canyon for a walk, trying to use a large hat and overcoat to hide herself as she walked to the northern end of the area. Sighing she sat down, groaning at her lot in life, feeling anger well up inside of her. Unfortunately for her the coat and hat caught on fire, burning off and leaving her in her demonic leather. Groaning and setting her face in her hands, groaning at her misfortune... Only to be approached by Serge of Icon. Before she knew it he was having her stand up, looking her over and all but begging her to model for a line of leather clothing coming out called ‘Fire’s Skin’. Reluctant at first she eventually agreed and Serge began making clothing in the line to fit her massive size.

Using her fledgling modelling career as a stepping stone to rebuilding her life she had a small garage fixed up in Atlas Park as an apartment. Eventually she decided to become a licensed hero, using her size and flame powers to clean up the streets, taking the description of Horned Demoness and using it as an alias.

Powers

Super Strength

Horned Demoness is able to press at least 120 tons. Using her great strength she is able to leap across the city, all but flying though the sky.

Invulnerability

Horned Demoness’ power is derived from Kilgoreja, the Invincible Lord of Fire. Because of this she is able to shrug off large amounts of damage before becoming injured. Clothing tight to her skin shares her durability.

Demonic Flames (Fire Melee)

Horned Demoness can summon and use the flames of Kilgoreja for her own use. She can make then as hot as ten thousand degrees or as cool as 30 degrees thanks to their magical nature. The flames can explode on impact, allowing her to do additional damage in addition to being able to breathe burning or concussive flames.
