John Kale's powers are markedly different than his soon to be predecessor, the In-Betweener. Where as Sebastian's powers were more focused on the aspects of Time, John's seem focused on manipulating Space into the form of concussive blasts using his telekinesis. He lacks the Telepathy entirely that IB has. While IB's mental powers were much more of a boon for his particular duties, John has to rely on the limited Cosmic Awareness to tell when something is out of tune with the universe.

John Kale is still very inexperienced in his future duties, and rushed for time as the In-Betweener has foreseen his own passing in a short amount of time. He has to learn the ropes fairly quickly and then be thrust into his job as a Guardian

Character History

Born in an alternate dimension, John Kale had no idea that he'd been chosen to be the In-Betweener's successor. Growing up without much of a care, he took up surfing and eventually grew up and managed a surf shop. That is until Sebastian Kyle paid him a visit. He warned him that someone would be coming to kill him in the near future and helped to unlock some of John's powers, which hadn't yet manifested.

9 months to the day later a dark man, bearing an uncanny resemblance to the In-Betweener came into his shop and made an attempt to kill him. Fending the man off he ran and escaped, thanks to the warning he'd received. He was brought into this dimension by IB in order to begin training as he'd seen events that led to his disappearance from the timestream. Now having a crash course in how to become a Guardian of Time and Space, John has to learn from someone with experience, and completely different powers than himself. And he has to do it quickly before the In-Betweener leaves.

Trivia

He's recently taken up a sort of relationship with Auroral EMT. Whether this was planned or accidental is unknown as well as the extent of their relationship.

John's and the In-Betweener's 'Cosmic Awareness' lets them know when there's been a breach in either history or the dimensional barriers. However John lacks IB's mental powers so is effectively flying blind save for that Awareness.
