Background

The son of Captain Quarry, Quentin knew he’d have big shoes to fill once it was apparent he had inherited his fathers’ geomorphing powers. His mother had died with Quentin was very young, leaving Charles to raise his son on his own. The two of them moved to Paragon City when Quentin was nine; Charles taking a job as a dockworker wile also continuing his crimefighting career. However, two years after moving there, the Rikti arrived and began their assault of the earth.

Captain Quarry fought bravely to protect the city and his son from the invaders. He was one of the many heroes who made up Alpha Team during their final push to seal off the Rikti homeworld; and one of those many heroes who sacrificed his life to save the human race from extinction.

With no living relatives, Quentin was bounced around for several years in the foster care system. When it came to light that he was also a mutant who possessed similar powers to his late father, it made adoption even harder; as most normal parents were unable to provide for his special needs.

Finally however, Quentin was brought to a place where other children like him could live and learn. That place was Shining Hope, a special shelter for metahuman children run by a heroine named Colossal Girl, who was only a couple of years older than him. There, Quentin was treated as a normal young man; not as a freak which became more common as his powers grew over the years. He also began to make friends with some of the older kids there. The smartmouthed Maverick Atom, the surprisingly hot-headed Ace Frost, the fun-loving (and slightly freaky looking) Lazlo, the introverted Runebreaker, and the boisterous Plip.

As they grew up and lived together, the eldest of the group had begun to use their powers as a group of heroes-in-training. Quentin, now calling himself Kid Quarry, had been chosen as one of the team’s co-captains alongside Maverick; and although they could work together, there were plenty of times the two young men would butt heads. Quentin also developed a crush on Plip, but was nervous about starting a relationship with her, until he was prodded into it by Maverick.

As a young hero, Kid Quarry has already been on adventures some heroes his age have only dreamed of. He was founght against aliens, both on Earth and beyond, and has stood against the devil himself (ok, it was only Norman Morningstar, but you get the point). But his greatest challenge was coming out from underneath his dad’s shadow and being known as his own hero. And this moment was best exemplified by his becoming a full-fledged member of the Young Gods of the Golden Age; along with his teammates Plip and Iguana Kid.

Kid Quarry is currently a senior at Benjamin Franklin High School, in Paragon City, where he also plays football as quarterback for the school's team, The Paragons.

Affiliations and Aquaintences

Kid Quarry serves as a member of the Young Gods of the Golden Age, and is a friend and ally to many of it's members. He is also the eldest of the children at the Shining Hope shelter; and is seen as their de-facto leader. Quarry is good friends with his fellow orphans at the shelter, particually, Iguana Kid, Maverick Atom, Runebreaker, and Plip; with whom he shares a romantic relationship. He's also friends with Gods of the Golden Age Members Proud Citizen and PinUp Girl; whom he also has a slight crush on.

Personality

Despite his youth, Kid Quarry is very mature and has a deep sense of responsibility. He always looks out for his friends and teammates and seeks to protect them if in danger.

Powers

Kid Quarry is a mutant who possesses the ability to control and manipulate stone and earth. While his powers are similar to Young Gods Paragon Terratonic, Kid Quarry's powers are centered more on himself rather than on the surrounding environment. Using his abilities, Kid Quarry is able to manipulate stone and earth and form it into weapons and armor which he uses in combat.

Kid Quarry also possesses a strong connection to the ley lines of the earth and is able to tap into this energy for several effects. With concentration, Kid Quarry can draw the Earth’s energy into his body to heal his wounds instantly. He is also capable of enhancing his body’s natural speed and reaction time, enabling him to run at speeds close to 200mph.

Kid Quarry’s body is naturally tougher and stronger then that of a man of his age and build. Even without his stone armor, his skin is very tough and cannot be pierced by knives or small arms fire. He also possesses a small degree of super human strength; enough to uproot a medium-sized tree by himself.

Abilities

Kid Quarry is very athletic and regularly plays football and other outdoor sports. He is a natural leader and possesses a great deal of maturity despite his age.

Weaknesses

Because of his inherent connection to the Earth, Kid Quarry’s powers are not very effective in an area where he in unable to draw in stone and earth, such as on a spaceship. In situations like this, he needs to form his armor and weapons ahead of time before leaving Earth.
