When her magical abilities awakened at the onset of her adolescence, Allura had a choice: submit to the scarring magic-removal process of the Cyber King, or rebel against his tyrannical rule, using her arcane and technological skills in tandem to undermine the cyborg dictator's cruel authority. Along with a team of other "Hacker Mages," Allura battled her way through firewalls, robotic sentries, and hunter-killer drones on the pristine white streets of Cyber World.
When the Cyber King turned his gaze beyond his own universe, he developed gateways to other dimensions, sending scouts into worlds to prepare them for conquest. Allura and her friends saw this as their way out, and hacked past the heavy security surrounding the facility and, together, stepped through the portal.
The chaotic, tumbling vortex of the gateway separated the young elven hackers, sending each to a different world. Allura found herself in Paragon City, Primal Earth. Deciding to use her magical and technological skills for the greater good, and enjoy her newfound freedom, she applied for a hero license, only to find herself constantly fought over by D.A.T.A. and M.A.G.I., both of which attempted to claim that she was their origin. Eventually, she was issued a rare "Dual Origin Hero License" stating that her powers stemmed from both Magic and Technology.
Powers and Abilities
As a Cyber Elf (an Elf from Cyber World), Allura has eyesight and hearing beyond humans' normal capabilities. She also possesses "aurasight," or the ability to visually perceive magical auras.
She is a trained marksman, and is supernaturally skilled with her enchanted handguns. These high-tech, magical weapons are capable of firing ordinary bullets of nearly any caliber (the cartridge magically resizes to fit within the gun), as well as Solid Mana shells (essentially, magic spells given physical form). She is highly trained in hacking (both magically and nonmagically), and is a talented and dedicated spellcaster.
The Nature of Magic
In Cyber World, magic is a nonphysical energy produced gradually by living and conscious Elves. Replacing part of one's body with mechanical implants (as the Cyber King had done with nearly his entire body) decreases the amount of mana which is produced and which can be stored. Tiny implants have a negligible effect, whereas a mechanical limb produces a marked decline in mana production and capacity.
Physical objects (in particular, Allura's guns and armor) can be transformed into mana, losing their physical form and taking up no space whatsoever, while residing within the form of an Elf or other creature capable of channeling mana into spells (the act known as "Spellcasting"). This allows such objects to be dismissed or summoned with only a moment's thought.
