Characters in this category are based on the elven race that is common to much Western-style fantasy and speculative fiction. The exact nature of the elven race varies widely, as it is used by so many authors, but generally speaking elven characters have in common long lives, pointed ears, physical beauty, physical frailty (by comparison to humans), a certain degree of androgyny, and racial ties to magic and/or nature. In City of Heroes/Villains, elves are mostly extra-dimensional or magical characters due to their fantasy roots, though other backgrounds are of course equally valid.
