The History of The M.E.T.S.U. Mercenaries

The patch worn by METSU Mercenaries that contains the group's insignia, the kanji Messatsu.

M.E.T.S.U. was first established long ago during the Middle Ages (Medieval Period) by a man known as Arthur Williams. A strong man who was born into a poor family of laborers. It is unknown when it happened but at some point Arthur developed amazing luck. When he had joined a group of English “knights” he discovered unusual things. Allies around him, even when wounded, were motivated to fight longer. There even had been cases where men who were laying on the ground dying suddenly feeling the energy to stand up and fight longer simply by having Arthur walk by him. Having him near other men seemed to make them stronger. Having him near enemies seemed to make them weaker. It wouldn’t be long until he figured he could lead his own unit. It was then he broke off from the kingdom they served and formed a group of Mercenaries.

It didn’t take a long time for other mercenaries to follow Arthur, forming a group of four hundred soldiers all under Arthur’s command. It was then they left England and fought in various wars, secretly playing the role of the fall and rise of nations. After fighting for years he’d survive to be an old man and established the Williams family as a noble one with the riches he had received for taking assignments from other nations.

His son, Charles, would expand METSU to accepting other “gifted” individuals. Traveling to other areas of the world he would discover other individuals with unique gifts like his father had. Charles, though an excellent fighter, didn’t have the entirety of “the gift”. He made up for it by adding talented warriors to METSU. Some of which were considered to be the earliest “supers”. It was around this point in METSU histories other familes began to associate themselves with METSU. Some families became loyal servants to the Williams Family, others simply raised their children specifically to become METSU Mercenaries.

As generations went by, the group moved across the world. Aiding in the expansion of territories as well as exploration of new lands. All while the Williams family took note of the cultures of other civilizations, learning new tactics and techniques to improve their fighting capabilities.

It should also be noted that the METSU often fought against supernatural beings. Demons, ghosts, lycans, vampires, the works. It was then they had established themselves as the one of the few, if not only, Mercenary groups capable of defeating such monsters. It should also be noted that METSU also were called upon to deal with Super Humans. Making them experts on fighting the abnormal.

During the American Revolution, METSU fought for both sides. Though, with the promise of future power, they eventually sided with the American rebels in a secret deal. METSU was promised a vast reward for giving them their services. Because they specialized in fighting the abnormal they were sent out whenever the Empire of Britain had deployed one of their “Supers” to fight the American rebels. Because the Empire of Britain’s “Supers” were eventually defeated by METSU and other parties the nation of simple farmers were able to topple one of the strongest nations in the world. Though, as America established itself as a nation, METSU would never receive the vast reward they were promised. Causing the family to have a distaste for Americans.

During the first World War the METSU faught for various sides. Occasionally this resulted in small units being pitted against each other in wars due to that unit had been assigned to one nation and the other another. While this resulted in a huge sum of money earned for the Williams family, it dwindled METSU’s numbers. But, this simply weeded out the weaker links in the group. Those who survived the chaos were the best. The most notable battle was between the two twin brothers. The winner of the two was given the title “Boss” Williams as he was deemed the most skilled soldier in METSU.

During the second World War, though, they would be predominantly working for the National Socialists, or Nazi party. The reason why they were almost regularly hired was so they could deal with Americas “Supers”. The Americans had employed several super humans to aid in winning the war against the Third Reich. The METSU, who had already established themselves as the group who specialized in defeating the abnormal, would be one of the few groups who managed to defeat these super heroes.

While they gained fame during WWII, they had also gained the reputation as villains for being associated with Nazis. Groups would be formed to hunt down the METSU, and other emerging “Supergroups” forming during the war. The METSU name was no longer viewed as neutral by the world. Upon discovering the atrocities Hitler committed history would deem the Nazi party as “evil”, and METSU joined them as several of their beloved heroes were killed by them.

Nicholas’s father, “Boss Williams”, attempted to restore the METSU’s reputation but slowly discovered it was a lost cause. The once massive army of soldiers had dwindled to nothing but a few groups of loyalists. Though, despite this, the Williams family had retained their wealth. Because the Williams were rich they could afford to take jobs from the stingy Americans, who despite distaste knew they could restore their neutrality by working for them during the Cold War. In the fight against communism “Boss Williams” met a female mercenary named Sarah. The two fell in love quickly and gave birth to a child while in the middle of combat. The child’s name was “Nicholas”.

Unfortunately, due to the secrecy of the Cold War, the world still viewed METSU as a group of villains. Even worse more and more super humans were emerging. Even though they could handle most of these emerging super humans, with their slowly dwindling numbers it became harder to defeat these supers. Eventually "Boss" Williams would be injured in a fight with a super and would have to hand METSU to his still teenage son.

Under Nic’s command METSU flourished with jobs. Working all over the world and working for any nation that paid them. Noting the surge of super humans was doing nothing but dwindling their numbers and making it harder to reach a decent profit, he would focus more on fighting “old fashioned” supernatural beings like vampires and getting involved in military conflicts between nations. He spent most of his time fighting in Africa and in the Middle East. The latter causing him to dislike sandy areas.

Though, once again METSU would fall upon hard times. Shortly after the dawn of the new century numerous vigilante groups raided the Australian METSU Mansion, which served as the main “base” for the group. The raid lasted for a week with both sides taking heavy tolls. Though, due to the vigilante group’s numbers and the METSU being unprepared, the METSU were eventually were defeated. A large number of METSU members were killed, including Nicholas’s father. Others went missing. And some were captured and sent to the Zig. Because of the chaos the number of METSU Mercenaries that are still alive or still imprisoned are unknown.

For an unknown amount of years, Nicholas and members of METSU were imprisoned. But during a raid on the Zig by Arachnos, Nic managed to escape.

Upon arriving at the Rouge Isles he eventually was able to break out Boris, a mercenary who worked under his father and aided in training Nic. And as Nicholas’ influence grew, he was able to find and rescue METSU mercenaries from the Zig. For a while the remnants of METSU were employed by Raxon, the leader of the Gray Wolf Militia. After establishing himself in the group Raxon announced he would be leaving for a week. And in his place he set up a council of three members to take his place. One of them was Nicholas Williams. Since it was only supposed to be a week the three council members weren’t given much abilities other then to recruit. As one week turned into several, members began to leave as the base itself wasn’t expanding and key members went missing. Nicholas, who’s goal was to focus on reestablishing METSU, didn’t want to lead another man’s group—especially since if Raxon returned he’d have to hand leadership back to him. So after a month of waiting Nicholas eventually left.

It was then Nicholas, searching for a new group to work for, ran into Morgan Blood. A bounty hunter turned Mercenary who worked for the Weapons Union. The Weapons Union, as Nicholas was told, was an organization lead by a man named Tasipher who was dedicated to finding work for mercenaries. Working with such “middle men” in the past he decided it wouldn’t hurt to join the Weapons Union.

The story of Nicholas' involvement is another story can can be read in the history of the Weapons Union.

Currently METSU exists as Nic's personal unit, and is open for new members to work directly under Nicholas.

Nicholas' Personal Unit

These men are made up of the remnants of the former METSU unit. While they are not among the more powerful mercenaries in Metsu, they are the most loyal to Nic. They are all seasoned soldiers are notoriously hard to kill.

Boris

Boris

A seasoned Russian Soldier that worked in "Boss" Williams' unit. He is also one of the men who taught Nicholas how to fight. Although he's an experienced soldier he lacks knowledge in advanced weaponry and tactics--a common handicap among Russian soldiers. An avid drinker of Russian vodka. He has the unusual ability to tell the difference between Russian and Non-Russian vodka.

Mikhail

Mikhail

A Russian Soldier, though much younger then Boris. He isn't as skilled as Boris but knows more about advanced weaponry--favoring M4 Carbines and utilizing rail system weaponry. Mikhail's afraid of vampires and can get nervous around them. Mikhail is also a frequent bar and club hopper.

Wesley

Wesley

A British Medic. While a good soldier he's a pacifist at heart. Sometimes a bit of a hippy. It's unknown why he joined METSU despite his quiet, peace loving ways. But he's good enough for Nicholas. He has a habit of calling everyone "sweetheart" and considers himself a pacifist--even though he regularly kills people.

Vergil

Former British Special Forces. An expert on weaponry, tactics, and literature. He's a top notch soldier who always keeps a cool head. He used to be a family man until his wife divorced him. He has a single daughter who attends a university thanks to checks from Vergil. Vergil has a soft spot for children and young adults--especially girls, as they remind him of his daughter. Because of this Vergil often goes out of his way to help young people, perhaps to make up for the fact he wasn't around for his daughter when she was younger.

Schwartz

Nothing is known about Schwartz other then his last name and he's from Germany. His skills and knowledge are on par with Vergil. Although he's often overly serious he becomes sociable when Mikhail is around. Occasionally telling uncharacteristic jokes. The two often go to clubs together.

John

John

The American. He's big, he's strong, and known to be trigger happy. John was kicked out of the United States Special Forces for being too violent. His only family is his mother and gets very defensive around her. He's also an avid fan of the Rambo series. His motto is "Shoot first then shoot again later."
