OOC Information

Omni-mind was a concept I came up with after running into numerous angst-filled or happy go lucky characters. He's different, fun and says exactly what he means... and that generally involves hitting on females. Take no offense; it's all meant in jest...

Origin

Steven Baker started life inside the womb as twins...until one devoured the other. While not common, it does happen and the child's birth was watched carefully. When born the child was blind, but otherwise normal. Released home, they quickly found Steven to be more than ordinary. While indeed blind, he would follow his mothers movement with his eyes and reached for things he couldn't see. As his growth continued, he learned to walk as a normal child and read as well. Doctors were baffled and his parents worried; very wealthy they sent for the greatest minds who determined he was a mutant. Life continued on and Steven's parents hoped their child's mutant ability stayed in check and base line; it did not.

At the age of 10, things started to move around the house. Drifting through the air, chairs moved about the rooms followed by toy's, pots and pans and anything not nailed down. At their wits end, his parents hired a babysitter and left for a vacation unwilling to take Steven with them. His sitter was a young girl hired by most of town to watch their children for extended periods of time and was also on her own as her parents had passed away; her name was Tange. Alongside her to watch him was the families dry manservant, Dewey.

Tange and Steven rapidly formed a close relationship, as she was also a mutant. Steven would spend his days home schooled by the paid tutor, while Tange stayed busy around the house. They would spend their weekends sitting by the pool or at Disney World and developed into a cobbled together family. His parents extended their vacation...for 7 years.

One night, something changed. Steven now 17 and Tange 22, their relationship started to strain under a developing closeness that bordered on incorrect; Tange had to leave. On a stormy night, she packed up her things and informed his parents by phone she was leave and would call the authorities if they didn't return. She snuck out without a goodbye...

His parents returned, strangers to him. They lavished him with gifts and stories of where they'd been and promptly sent him on a world tour...alone. Alongside Dewey, he explored most of Europe and some of Asia, returning eight month's later, still missing Tange. Unable to find her, Stevens parents packed him up and headed for Paragon City, where his father was in business negotiations to purchase a large portion of the Icon business.

Steven fell in love with Paragon; for once he felt normal. The sky alight with powered individuals, human speedsters whipping by them in traffic, he was almost mundane. His parents saw this and knowingly, contacted a school specializing in mutants; Next Gen. Shipped to the private school in Talos, he was given a room and a roommate, 180dB; a hard rock listening musician from Alaska. Strangely, they bonded well and became fast friends. Later, after passing a variety of exams and boards, Steven was granted the codename of "Omni-Mind", a reference to his birth and mental ability. Capable of vision via extended and low level tactile telekinesis, he also was capable of exerting massive physical strikes with long ranged telekinetic force.

Omni-Mind, or "Omni" as he was called later, quickly gained popularity as a mischief maker and "ladies man". Caught once inside the armory by Commander Dayrunner with a female "fan" he was made to clean the armory for two weeks everyday. He also gained more than a few female friends, including Lisa Deing, Psyche Girl and Masquerading-Facade. His relationships with these girls was fast and rarely successful.

Injured during a major battle involving Next Gen and one of their enemies, Omni-Mind was transported to the hospital in Steel Canyon. Released, he was picked up out of the blue by Tange, his old babysitter, now 24 and he 19. They disappeared for a week, only to pop up at the Next Gen Campus as a couple, just before the events of "Sins of the Father". During the event, Omni-Mind stayed behind to manage evacuations for the campus and Tange again left, unhappy with the events in Paragon and the anti-mutant riots.

While trying to orchestrate the escape of mutants from the main campus facility, Omni-Mind was killed by the angry mob, who launched bricks and garbage at the roof of the facility in an attempt to force the transport ship to leave.
