The Great War

Long ago Demons and Angels walked the Earth. Their wars with one another constantly drew our for years on end and often involved humans who also occupied the lands. Constant strife endured, man had to bind together in clans to create a force of protection for the lands they owned. All of this constant strife took lives from all sides. The good, the bad, the neutral, and the innocent. No matter what, man was thrown into a state of blood shed and given only one opportunity; fight to kill or be killed.

But unlike the demons and angelic sort, man held close determination and perseverance. Outmatched and out classed, man could not win a fight alone; they had to have the will and belief in themselves to over come their struggles. With a heart that could love and protect another of many, man knew of the terms of sacrifice yet still fought for the hope that one day the strife would end. It didn't. It never would. For as long as two different species existed, there would be a fight for one side to survive at the cost of the other. All man could do was form demon slaying groups, who would kill for money, pride, or the sake of defending one's family and friends. The longer all sides fought each other, the more blood that would be shed.

In doing so many demon slayers were born, or trained for that matter, in hopes of balancing the tides of war. But as always, man was easily corrupted by greed. Many were also born for the soul purpose of making a profit. Of course these were both men and women who had nothing more to lose and by slaying, they felt they actually had a purpose for the world. Clans ranged in the hundreds of thousands. Unfortunately they would become their own enemies as duels would turn from innocent competitions to all out battles of supremacy. Money became involved for all things, whether slaying, beating a duel, or taking over land. Man was no better than that which they fought.

Many years would pass until finally an ultimatum was produced forward. Earth no longer had room for all forces, the time of demons and angels were coming to a close. It was a human's realm from the moment that deal was made and on ward. As a last effort to reclaim one's birth right the demons and angels fought one another in the greatest war known to man and ever told in books from the past. Thunder crackled as sword met shield, axe severing head; lightning sizzled as bolts from the heavens struck through fire and brimstone. Man would also participate seeing this as the only opportunity to justify their reason for existing. What started out as a typical day of war changed into a battle of Armageddon-proportion.

Peace

Many would fall on all sides over the war's greatest of days. The battle would continue until all sides gather forward into one spot and agreed that blood should no longer be spread across the lands by any hand but that which one did onto themselves. Man would be free to go about their business as they had tried to do prior to all the chaos. Whether or not man would kill themselves was of no concern to the other forces, it was man's dawn.

But a bargain was made between the forces of Heaven and the forces of Hell. That while demons and angels could not walk the Earth-realm freely, their influence would remain absolute. Either side could not engage war with one another let alone cause death for man directly. Mere influence icons that's all they were from that point on. The agreement was justified and even man would have a say in the matter; it was the only and best option at that pint.

Exodus

A Time period best described for which both demons and angels left the plane of the Earth Realm. There would be no other choice. However, some remained. Beings like Morgana of The Twilight, a creature born from hatred and pride, many like her with her lead agreed to decline the ultimatum. Once the ruling forces of either side had left, those that remained would continue a reign of chaos for the sake of anger over that which their kindred ere forced to agree to.

While both sides were inferiorated by the breaking of the terms put forth and agreed upon by all sides, man still had their demon slaying clans at the disposal. It was here the power of influence would be tested by both sides. Man would fight their own battles, taught barely any insight of knowledge to combat those which wished to remain and continue on a warpath of destruction and bloodshed. Man would be given the bare minimum of push they needed to hunt.

Ruvarian Swiftblade

"What sort of madness is this? There was an agreement. Demons would flee to their realm and leave mankind alone. But some remain. Does Lucifer lack the ability to control his minions or is Morgana truly that powerful to defy the laws put into place. I will slay her!" Ruvarian says aloud after the devastation left to his village by Morgana, claiming his fiance's life in the process as well.

Ruvarian was blessed to a clan of demon slayers following the pass of the Exodus. Born merely a year before the end of the Great War, he grew in a confident and active manner. Trained by his father, Ruvarian quickly adapted to learn the way of the sword and to protect those he care much about. The clan itself was fairly small, discrete, and welcoming to outside travelers. Numbering in about four families total, everyone looked after each other. It was at the age of seven Ruvarian would gain the hand of a peer female villager who also belonged to the same clan. Promised to him by his father, Ruvarian and his companion would become close for a few years through their journeys across long distances of land. However the day following their wedding, Morgana would strike with a large party of demon-kind. In the process of the attack Ruvarian would lose his love and a number of clan-mates. At the death bed of his dying and newly claimed wife, Ruvarian would swear to destroy the demoness that had lead the near destruction of his clan.

He would search for many months before being granted his wish to face and fight Morgana. Despite how prepared he figured himself out to be, he was no match for the demoness as she easily brushed his attacks off. While he was human, she found him some how captivating. Perhaps his determination or the "forbidden fruit" philosophy was what attracted her, him coming all this way to fulfill a promise he made to his deceased loved one. From that point, Morgana began to break Ruvarian down. She would sexually assault him and in the end bare his child nine months later. After discarding him, in thanks for supplying her with his seed, Ruvarien swore to end it once and for all. At the time that Morgana would give birth to her offspring, Ruvarien would find and steal the child. After a long clash in a second confrontation, Morgana mocked but appraised him for his consistency and admired the mortal. At this same time Ruvarien used it as a manner to run with the child for which enraged Morgana.

Morgana of The Twilight

"You are my son. You are destined to take the thrown by my side so we can reclaim the land that rightfully belongs to us. You would turn your back on that? They're inferior, weak, pathetic...." Morrigan tries to persuade Seraph to join her.

Not much was known of Morgana before the Great War. A secretive and calculating creature of unknown origin. While seemingly by herself, Morgana had ties to powerful demons that stretched across the world. She mainly kept to herself. Until the Great War, Morgana's presence was almost non-existance to mortal and angelic kind alike. However Lucifer expressed that while he knew of something brewing, he suspecting the demonic energy capable of equaling his own angelic strength.

At first, Morgana's participation was scarce in the Great War. However her presence became greatly known and the very words spoken about her frightened many. The title of Twilight was given to her because only during dusk and dawn did she strike or aid in combat. Otherwise her presence was enough alone to strike fear into her foes. Participation would greaten as larger conflicts erupted more openly. The demoness mainly sat back as moral support but struck down when necessary within her respected time frame, not that she was limited to it. However just as she began to participate more often, during the climax of the war Morgana had seemingly vanished. It was suspected by her followers that she knew of a pending agreement between the forces of Heaven and Hell. The agreement itself that would lead to The Exodus. Many speculated she was angry with what had turned out and whether or not she would retaliate.

Retaliate she did. In fact not only did she refuse to enter the demon world, by staying in hiding for a short period she was able to evade most if not all opposition. Of course with the agreement under way, Lucifer was unable to deal judgment onto Morgana for her treachery at which point he had found out about her and was not able to stop her. In the mean time as she hid and gathered forces, her dislike towards mortal kind heightened to a state of blood lust where she began to carry out waves for the purpose of eliminating human demon slayers and those unfortunate to cross her path.

While blood thirsty, Morgana did indeed have a deep softer side. It was that to rebuild her bloodline by having offspring. Unfortunately the demons she knew she had little use for let alone found any attraction to. While her intentions were nothing of the sort, irony had it's way when she openly struck a clan of demon slayers that Ruvarien Swiftblade himself called home. It was ironic that he, one of the few male survivors and a slayer himself, would be the one to hunt Morgana and end up being the one to supply her with her desired offspring. Morgana found no better alternative because she had no interest in those that followed her let alone she wasn't desperate to find demon-sorts for herself that would be worthy. Instead, after a long strenuous battle with Ruvarien she found him worthy of such a prize. His gift would be a life for a life, at which point she would rape the young male and in turn gain a child of her very own.

Seraph, a miracle

"I wont become what I hate." As a child Seraph stands determined as he peers up at the night sky.

In a desparate attempt to keep Morgana from getting back her child, Ruvarien planted the child on a near by river that would feed into the sea. Encasing the new born in cloth that would act like a cradle or so he hoped. In order to completely fake it he rolled his own shirt into a ball and ran in the opposite direction knowing Morgana would be more in tuned with his sent than her own offspring. At that moment Ruvarien also remembered the place in which Gemini had fallen, angry that he forgot to place it with the child. Using his own necklace shaped into a dragon wrapping itself around a cross, there was a small compartment that he could sneak a rolled up piece of paper in which he rote descriptions on. Quickly securing the item he tossed the necklace into the river bed in hopes that it would sail down stream as well and if the child's mind recalled anything one day he would find this spot again. Once done Ruvarien continued to run where hours later Morgana would find him and deliver the final blow. Taking his last breath Ruvarien mocked the succubi, "I will destroy you, in this life or in the next." Morgana deemed this laughable but cried out in anger when discovering the child was not in the bundle of cloth Ruvarien made so cleverly. With Ruvarien now dead and the child able to be anywhere, Morgana let out a dreadful wail of a cry that some heard and fled in terror away from it's general direction. From that day forth Morgana was rarely heard of, or talked about for that matter, having gone into hiding for many years.

The day he was supposedly born was the day a woman named Claudia in her early thirties was venturing out to a canal to gather water and found a infant sailing down the stream. She was frightened and yet worried about the child's safety. Her determination lead her through the water, wading her way to the child and capturing it. She was shocked to find what was inside the crib at closer inspection, this was not a normal child. He had white eyes and silver hair. From that day forth she considered the child a gift from God. She herself could not bare children do to a birth defect in her own blood line, thus she truly felt this was a miracle. Without little hesitation she named him, Seraph. Derived from the word Seraphim, highest angels in the order of the heavens.

Seraph was taken home with this woman but brought to a house hold with her husband, Ivan, that wasn't too accepting of outsiders. At first glance at the child Ivan wanted to throw the it out but he had his reasons and suspicions. Judging by his experience he felt there was no miracle to this child but rather a curse. During a time where the only half breeds that existing in the know were humans spliced with demonic or hellbound blood, he was always aware and bared the child little to no attention.

As the boy grew up, Seraph was rather kind and polite. Never did he enter the phases of his child hood such as the threes or fours. He helped around the house and despite feeling abandoned by his own so called father, Seraph loved Claudia who he felt was his mother. She of course gave him all the love and care she could put forth. Every time Seraph would get a cut, she would comfort him. Although it was rare Seraph would ever get hurt because his wounds would heal almost instantaneously. At the first display of his regenerative abilities, Claudia was nearly taken back but again hid theses facts with more delusion, considering his traits just apart of the miracle that she saw him as. In the end, when it came to a motherly figure, she would be it.

And despite the neglect the father of the household deliver, Seraph still felt protected. And it were true. When Ivan was out he would actually slay a few demons and lessors on his way through the forest to get supplies. This didn't happen every day but as Seraph gold older, Ivan noticed a growing population in the distance.

Becoming the Slayer

"I'm a slayer, not a hunter; let alone a pet-detective. I bring with me a sword and guns, not a fucking fishing net. [sigh]" Seraph groans unpleasantly during an unpleasing turn of events.

At around the age of seven, the demon sorts that Ivan continued to slay were becoming great. Even though Seraph possessed an ability that retained his demonic power, they still seemed drawn to a familiar sent. One no ordinary human being could detect and one that Ivan figured the only way as the demons meandered close. Every passing day at this point Ivan felt in fear of his family and wanted to cast Seraph out into the wilds as means to get him away from their home, Claudia refused however and clung to Seraph when the boy was asleep. He was her only child after all and innocent in her eyes. Which was true, Seraph returned love back to her and gave Ivan the proper respect as to not address or interfere with his work. With no control over his heritage he actually feared Ivan because of the dislike the step father had towards him for which Seraph did not understand.

It was only four months after Seraph's seemingly seventh birthday that a pack of three dangerous demons in particular that rushed the home while Seraph was out playing in the forest. He did not detect any movement as he was not only too young at the time but untrained to do so. The boy would only turn around when he would hear the cry of Claudia which frightened even him. Never in the seven years did Seraph ever think he heard Claudia scream so loud and he knew this was serious and rushed back. To his horror, as his silver eyes viewed upon the carnage, Seraph found both lying on the floor with blood all over the place. At the same time Ivan was still alive but Claudia was no doubt unconscious or dead. Ivan struggled to get up as one of the humanoid monsters pin him down by it's foot, trying to motion to Seraph to run, another demon came up from behind and impaled it's arm through Seraph's back and out through his chest. Seraph, in a state of shock, looked down to see a hand that wasn't his own protruding from his chest and at that point blacked out.

Hours later Seraph would awake, feeling he had a terrible dream. His bones ached as he awoke like he was sleeping on a flat surface when he gazed down at his chest and wanted to cry. There was a hole in his shirt, whatever he thought he drempt of did happen. But a pause caused Seraph to scratch lightly at his chest where to his horror he realized his skin was un-scarred, not even a mark beyond blood stains remained. Seraph was snapped out of his confusion when Ivan, still alive but on his dying breaths, reached up and grabbed Seraph by the scruff of his collar. Ivan spoke in a threatening manner, tears drawing from his eyes, "I hated you the moment she found you. You were a bad omen since you were brought into this house hold. But if you ever become anything like them, I will 'never' forgive you."

From that day forth, Seraph would leave the house crying and covered in nothing but a bundle of clothes as he moved only the best way he could: by finding anything warm and protective as he walked through the wilderness.

The Red Flash

"The Red Flash, that's what they call him. Because that's the last thing you ever remember when that fucker decides to move. He's inhuman, a monster, but to these people... he's the only hero they got. And he would die for everyone of them. They say monsters don't have a heart, I've seen this boy stand for things cowards wished they could and he would bring only peace. He's the right guy for the job."

The Fall of an Angel

Into The Abyss that was Hell

"He awakens..." - Lucifer

Becoming the Demon

Family Reunion

"Nothing personal... mother. But human remains just isn't apart of my diet." - Seraph to his mother.

Gemini, the Harvestor Of Souls

A Sword seemingly riddled with personality yet lacks any sort of conscious thought. Originally named Soul Harvestor, donned the name Gemini from Seraph when he named it, this blade of indestructible and terrible metal was forged by the God of Fire and Metal; Vulcan. Vulcan, having been casted out of Olympus for foul deeds, regretted his punishment and sought vengeance. It was there in Tarturus Vulcan began to construct a blade that only demon-kin could wield. As it was finished Vulcan used a special forged key from the Fires of Creation to open a small door that would reach the Earth Realm. The window of opportunity was very small so success had to be precise. Of course the outcome was nothing Vulcan nor Lucifer could predict. As it sailed and landed into the Earth Realm, the sword laid rest for years until finding it's way into the hands of he who would become the father of Ruvarian Tul'war.

Originally designed as the name states, Soul Harvestor was made to slay humans and in the process gather souls. It was also called, "The Skeleton Key" by Lucifer for upon reaching the quota and used at a specific spot with the proper ritual; would open a portal between Earth and Hell. Seemingly the answer to starting the Apocalypse.

However, even Lucifer did not know of the actual intent behind the blade's creation. It's true purpose was to release Vulcan from his shackles so he could breach forth from Tarturus and journey to Olympus as means to exact his revenge. Originally Vulcan intended for Lucifer or his son to wield the blade to carry out the harvesting but a simple mistake wound the sword's way into human hands. But the human anatomy could not contemplate nor utilize it's raw power, the blade would lay dormant until demonic blood would grip the handle or shed on it's edges. This would not occur for three generations when the blade would finally come to into contact with Seraph; all while he himself was having a battle with his own mother. It would be that fateful night the sword would awaken and through Seraph unlock a portion of it's power. Naming it Gemini for it's dark design, Seraph felt it was some what comical given the circumstances and upon figuring out the proper intent he felt it was more justified.

Although with Gemini awakened, strange occurrences began to occur. After all the blade was originally intended to slay humans but Lucifer himself could see the change as each demon slain by the sword began to corrupt it's purpose. It wasn't long before Gemini's integrity would become corrupted. Still capable of slaying humans and harvesting souls, Lucifer and others in his legion have lost all hope in it actually being a precursor for Armageddon until they can actually test it. The symptoms of it's digression are incalculable, Vulcan himself while angry can't help but be amused.

Presence in Folklore

Many tails can be seen as evidence for Seraph's presence in past. Some historical moments while others less known to the public. Upon writings many of which stand out, such as his journey to Transylvania as well as his encounter with Beowulf. Indian stories tell of a man in a red coat, long before the American settlers, who battled a Wendigo in the Northern Forests of the United States.

Beowulf's tale

The Hunter and the Hunted

This tale depicts the crossing of two Legends. Seraph and Beowulf. What started as just a boat ride turns into something more... dire, a twist of fates.

Dracula vs Seraph

One Man's Bravery

Seraph is seen in Transylvania. Others observe the man in the red coat enter the premises without a single glint of worry for where this road may end. Confidence draws over his face. Not a single person could forget those silver eyes, those seemingly inhuman eyes set on the prize.

History to Present

Current residence and job description

"Hi, thanks for calling. You're on the mic with Seraph. You name em, I slay em. Just be sure to sign the dotted line because if your kid dies in an attempt at an exorcism... I wont be held accountable." Says Seraph over the phone in a sickly charming manner.

Famous Quotes

"Yup, I'm a monster but a wise man once told me that despite what I am... it's how I use it that makes me who I am." Seraph speaks words of wisdom that even go as inspiration to those battling with their darker selves.

"Human or demon, it makes no difference. I've seen some men in my life time that would put Lucifer to shame. Even Lucifer has morals..." Says Seraph to a client as she questions where he lays down the line.

"A young girl looked up to me and called me a hero once, it took her sacrifice to show me exactly whose side I am on." Seraph reflects the loss of a girl named Arianna who was slain by Seraph's rival, Romulus Gilgamesh.

"Don't confuse yourself now, it's not that I don't know when to quit. I choose not to, there's a difference." Seraph says to the face of Lucifer.

Associates

Omega Kisser

Fallen Rose ~ Local bartender at Pocket D who occasionally Seraph strikes up a conversation with. They're friends through friends they both happen to know. And since she's constantly happy to serve him, how could Seraph turn down such a beautifully misunderstood face?

Agenla Kedair ~ It's no secrete Seraph deals with folklores, fairytales, and generally what goes bump in the night. Luck would have it he finds himself with the opportunity to approach a seemingly sincere and polite fae at the bar who happens to be by herself. Making no attempt to hide herself in a crowd, Agenla's pointy ears were the first step to giving her origin and identity away. It was only natural the two would click, being from familiar backgrounds.

Dance Therapy ~ Just some random groupy Seraph met yet again in the D. She went to compliment him on his tailoring which started up their interaction.

Kenna Grainne ~ It takes a lot of effort for one of the paranormal to go unnoticed by Seraph. There's always small details that he can take notice of without trying to conduct a full investigation. Kenna unlike many, didn't try to hide it. Sure she came across as an anti-social individual and probably with good reason too. Seraph knew only so much about Fae-kind, Kenna being of seed belonging to that "Tree", she was there in the D sitting to herself in a corner not too far off from Isaac's watch. Upon approaching, Seraph could feel a sense of being surrounded just by being within her vicinity but of course it was non-threatening let alone she was no amateur looking for a good drink. Seraph took a seat, and with good manners introduced himself. They're not too familiar but suffice to say, they've met. Time can only tell how they see each other later.

Rose Maiden ~ Introduced to Seri by her best friend, Lizzy, their meeting above the monkey cages started out as a playful setting up of a blind date. Seraph wasn't one to leave a woman waiting upon giving his word so he accepted Lizzy's proposal at going out on a date with her best friend. All in all, Seraph knows barely anything about Seri despite claiming, "I can lift a German tank" when she tried to explain how "unusual" she was. It didn't really phase Seraph and so the two have been planning vaguely on how to carry out their fun mishap. Only time will tell how the two fit in each other's book of contacts should they get to know each other more.

Labal ~ If there ever was to be one individual Seraph would keep a close watch on, Labal takes the prize. At one time Seraph was employed by Labal's very own daughter, but once a fallen most always a fallen. Seraph finds it within his interest to watch the demon who commands an empire's worth.

Trivia

~ Seraph is an inspired creation from Dante of the Devil May Cry series. However their stories do not intersect nor will any of the characters from the franchise ever be mentioned in my story telling. And it gets on my nerves to hear hypocrites ridicule me for it when you have Tolken ripping off Norse Mythology... you will be schooled in with my logistics if one decides to make a discussion about this.

~ Despite being half demon, Seraph does not have any demonic aura. At least not until his demon half is activated. From channeling demonic power into his sword, foes or allies who detect demonic energy or see it, will catch the display. Otherwise his human half acts as a cloak, this makes Seraph incredibly annoying to predict since there's relatively no flow at all to monitor; making it easier for him to catch his opponents off guard.

~ Gemini is not an animated weapon. The chaos and energy emitting from it that make it appear as though living, it's actually the result of being corrupted as the sword was originally intended to slay humans for harnessing souls but is being used to kill demonic sources.

~ While Seraph in human form does not have a constant aura like most demonic/angelic forces, Gemini on the other hand can produce sounds resembling the frequency of aura.

~ I picked Gemini as the name of Seraph's iconic sword (Rularuu by the way) one being it's symbolic. Taking something intended for villany and yet using it for the greater good.

~ Gemini is intended to appear as a silver long sword with an unusually long hilt, boarder lining something more like claymore instead. The hilt is that of a dragon's face with the blade horizontal between it's jaws. There is no bottom jaw so no matter what face a user see, there's a dragons face staring back.

~ Gemini hums because of the chaotic chain reaction of demonic power conflicting with it's original purpose. While Seraph has no detectable aura, his sword can give off a strange single to some of the most more experienced watchers. It's because of this characteristic that many assume Gemini has a hidden personality, due to it's nature in humming during the presence of another demonic source of great power. Seraph uses this as an alarm so to speak, because when a powerful being is close by with the intent to kill, Gemini will hum loudly. To women this can be heard as a melody and the more fierce the opponent, the more violent the tune becomes. While to demonic beings it can be heard as a roar.

~ Strangely enough Demonic power can strengthen Seraph if he's around it. Such as opening a gate to hell, he unknowingly taps into it and can utilize that energy.

~ Build Up acts as the process of accumulating and transfering demonic energy. The flashy effects of Disembowel and Headsplitter resemble that energy being unleashed.

~ Like any half demon, Seraph has a demonic half. Although he doesn't struggle at all with it; most would assume he gains a second personality due to tone of voice and attitude. It's not the case, Seraph has full control over his demonic side making him very potent.

~ The going concept right now is that Seraph has two demon forms. One represented by his first ever transformation that took on a stereotypical winged devil. The second is still in the works but designed to be who he truly is. There's a growing concept in my writing that if one despises themselves so much for being a monster, they reveal to those observers their monstrous side. In otherwords: Becoming what they hate.

~ Morgana of The Twilight in appearance is inspired by Morrigan Aensland from Darkstalkers.

~ Lucifer's relationship with Seraph relates much to the TV series called Brimestone Where as in this tale Lucifer confronts Seraph on many occasions to carry out "special" tasks.

~ While Gemini was designed to slay human beings to obtain their soul, Seraph has not once struck down a human with it.
