Behold the power of the Grammar Ninja!

While learning how to create Wiki pages, I'm spending some time each day hitting the Random Page button. In return for getting to see an awesome or sensible or creative or "adorkable" entry, I'm doing minor edits that mostly consist of spelling and grammar enhancement: if something looks like it's meant to be fragmented, incorrectly spelled, conversationally formatted, or all crammed into a single breath a la "hyperactive superspeedster mode", of course I will leave it alone. I'll leave actual word choice alone too, of course, other than fixing the basic (you're/your/yore), (they're/their/there), (breath/breathe), (lose/loose), (its/it's), and (rouge/rogue) homonyms.

If someone really wants a more in-depth grammar critique, please let me know: this covers anything from "how can I memorize the difference between makeup and failure to abide by the rule of law?" to "does Bob the Angry Flower have a bounty on my head?" all the way up to "please be cruel". It might take me a bit to return a response, as there's the day job and the Co* adventuring to manage first, but I'm happy to be of service to the Virtue community.

Rissa's Typist: Trivia

I'm one of the many folks credited as concept contributors to the Sidekick Sourcebook from Pulsar games. I actually contributed most to a power that wound up not making the cut, for reasons I utterly understand and support, and I was tangentially involved in the other Power Revisions, but I was very much a minor contributor. In fact, when a friend asked me about it, I suggested that my contribution consisted of the word "to".

One of these years, I'll pick up a copy at Dragon*Con.

Speaking of D*C: who's going? I'm an Eternal Member, and I've been thinking about volunteering this year to help in the MMO Gaming Track.

VV Contributions

  1. Wyldfire is a blueside SuperGroup, based in Independence Port. We want to join a coalition of RPers!
  2. Jarissa is my main character, resident blueside since October 2004, and I'm in no hurry to finish the game.
  3. Infinity Inc is a redside Threat Group, a corporation based in Africa purely for non-extraditable reasons, and mostly used as a plot device. They are best known for their Hybrid Series of programmed, genetically designed minions, which come equipped with voice-activated controls.
  4. Fehral started as a proper villainous Stalker -- a clone of Jarissa, though Fehral thinks it's the other way around -- made by Infinity Incorporated and never able to escape before her will was broken and her programming finished. These past few years, she's spent a lot of time with another player's stalker (Nightsear) and they've gone Rogue. Fehral is trying to steal enough money to buy herself from the corporation. Simon Arkangel's administrative staff do have a general idea of what she's doing with her "play time", and consider it a harmless diversion.
  5. Simon Arkangel is the owner and CEO of the aforementioned villain group. I can see why a lot of female typists enjoy playing male characters in this game -- Simon gets a lot fewer impertinent tells than Rissa. Also, using "Teleport Foe" with a Merc/Traps Mastermind is a lot of fun.
  6. Wyldstorm is a version of Wyldfire from an alternate reality. When they found out about the in-game dimension, they decided to hide out in it for a while -- until they recover enough to go back and fight off the Bad Guys. Wyldstorm aren't villains, but they aren't supernice people, either. I'm having a lot of trouble with the page format, and can't figure out how I messed up in the first place.
  7. Story submissions include:
Jarissa/Neon Brown Eye
Jarissa/Psychic Vampire Flu
Jarissa/The Uncommon Valor Fan Club Auxiliary which, of course, is part of the Category:News Cycle story arc
Wyldstorm/The Green December is actually by Iradium's typist; since I'm writing the Wyldstorm page, I needed to post it. Maybe he'll make some pages of his own. I sure hope so, he's a very good storyteller when he sets his mind to it.
Infinity_Inc/the Kill Trigger does not exist on the VirtueVerse because its content exceeds the "Rated T for Teen" marker a bit more than I'm comfortable posting here. Fehral has a link to it in her Spoilers section, over on FFdotNet. Please expect something that is Not Safe For Work due to vocabulary, not-always-healthy sexual content, and a bit of gore.
Infinity_Inc/Project_Retirement_Package introduces several characters related to the II Hybrid Series Minion projects. Several of the characters are not, in fact, mine; I borrowed with permission, and got the owners to beta-read before I posted it.
Infinity_Inc/Chimes takes place very recently to when it was posted, compared to above-listed II stories. I thought it was a one-shot story when I first posted it. Apparently I was mistaken. Chapter 2 will link off the bottom of that page.

I write because one or more of the characters in my head won't shut up. Sometimes I write because somebody else's character has leaned over into my head, probably due to roleplaying with that other person for long enough to start getting a sense of the right patterns while I have a grand time, and won't shut up.

Occasionally I'm displacing frustration or bewilderment in real life onto my characters' lives. They're almost all younger and healthier than I am, and more interesting to boot.

I write because I want to make the world around me more enjoyable, manageable, comprehensible, or even tolerable for the people in it. It is my fond hope that my characters will live, in these pages, long after I mapserve.

I hope to eventually have a Discussion page set up on every story, just in case anybody out there has the urge to comment in some way. I don't need feedback to make the Write Function work, but it is always more wonderful to have responses than to feel like I'm yammering away at a wall.
