Formerly a teen hero, government consultant and student, Alexander now works with Vanguard, The Pariah Project, and the Carnival of Light to keep Primal and Praetorian Earth safe.

Powers

Transmutation Magic: Transmutation magic, the art of turning energy into matter and vice versa, is Alex's primary area of expertise. He can siphon kinetic and magical energy to power spells that alter the physical properties of objects or beings around him.

Evocation Magic: Magic Missiles, Blistering fireballs, gusts of wind and blinding bursts of light. Evocation spells are Alex's primary offensive weapons. Utilizing the power of the arcane, he can choose to deal lethal or subdual damage to his foes, and fire unerring magical projectiles that can knock down enemies in a single shot.

Enchantment Magic: A broadening selection of enchantment spells allow Alex to create a protective field of energy around his mind and body, persuade the simpleminded, and to inflict a magical slumber upon his foes.

Chronomancy: The secrets of chronomancy were revealed to Alexander through his work with Vanguard. Vanguard wizards occasionally travel through time to study the Rikti's tactics during the early days of the first invasion. Alexander sought to mitigate punishment from an angry goddess by traveling back into Praetoria's past.

Flight: Alexander's magic gives him the power of flight, but at greatly limited speeds.

Summoning: The power to summon nearby allies comes from the Enchiridion, allowing the archmage to quickly assemble a team of heroes.

Abilities & Limitations

Alexander's spells are limited to a number of uses per memorization. If given several minutes, he can quickly re-memorize his incantations and gestures, but prolonged engagements require him to imbue items with spells to extend the duration of his powers.

Equipment

Alexander makes frequent use of spell components for rituals, wands and scrolls to store spells for extended adventures, talismans, runes, and occasionally, firearms and weapons to bring his physical might up to par with his adversaries. Alexander also has access to an extensive magical library through M.A.G.I., allowing him to rapidly assess any magical threats he might encounter.

A capable artificer, Alexander has recently been working on integrating several magical artifacts together to form a kind of armor for high-risk combat situations. Unfortunately, a lack of workspace and materials have halted his efforts.

History

Nakacon1.JPG
Alexander Schlotz's family moved around quite a bit due to his father's position in the military. When Col. Schlotz finally retired, he began working for a military contractor based in Paragon City. Alexander spent the majority of his childhood growing up in Astoria, until the Rikti invasion turned his life upside down.

Seeking shelter in the city's interior, the Schlotz family fled to Atlas Park, but unfortunately, the alien invasion force was able to penetrate the city's defenses and destroy city hall. The efforts of Statesman and several other heroes managed to drive them off before they could turn their attention to the refugees. In the aftermath of the battle, Alexander found a M.A.G.I. spell book in the wreckage of city hall. Studying the book, Alexander became skilled in the art of transmutation magic.

While most of the city's super powered individuals were out fighting the main Rikti force, Alexander and the city's criminal element set about coordinating relief efforts for the refugees and serving as messengers between the various pockets of human resistance.

Towards the end of the war, Alexander sustained a serious injury from a Rikti plasma weapon. The resulting infection left his body weakened and withered for a time. Still recovering from his injuries, he began attending Paragon University, working towards a degree in sociology with a minor in women's studies.

After another brief stint in the hospital due to the onset of celiac sprue, a genetic condition, Alexander decided to take up hero work part-time to hone his magical skills and make contacts within the paranormal community while still attending school.

Devoting more and more of his time to heroism, Alexander joined the Justiciars in an attempt to garner more fame and respect among the super powered community. Incidents involving the Rikti and clashes among members caused Alexander to take another hiatus from his crime fighting career to work as an intern at M.A.G.I.'s home offices in Washington D.C. At the end of his internship, he returned to Paragon as a full-time student, and part time magical researcher.

At the request of a contact at the Portal facility on Peregrine Island, Schlotz was sent to investigate a mysterious magical disturbance in an artificial pocket dimension. While surveying the area, an accident transported the hero into a parallel reality, leaving him stranded for months.

Recent History

Now able to traverse parallel realities at will, the newly promoted "Archmage Amazing" works as a consultant with super groups and organizations like Vanguard. Recently, he's been attached to a number of experiments with ancient magical artifacts. Only time will tell how exposure to these relics will have affected his powers.

Trivia

Before becoming a hero, Alexander worked in campus coffee shop of Steel Canyon's Paragon City University.

Alexander Amazing has been featured in "Reading is FUNdamental" a poster for the Paragon City Public Libraries.
