"I would say before you judge me; walk a mile in my shoes, but... I burnt them all." — Atom

Contents

Origins

Atom was born on Mercy Island, however she grew up in the slums of Port Oakes. Records from the era show that her parents were possibly a drug-addicted Casino worker mother, and an Arachnos Arbiter who died during a Longbow incursion. Nothing too special, which was why her mother ended up selling the child for her next fix.

Eventually winding up in The Craglows beneath Port Oakes, Atom was raised surrounded by down-trodden Mutants and homeless addicts by a Black Market peddler. Funny enough she became neither an addict or a mutant, however sometime after she hit puberty there was a noticeable change on the girl after she was sold once again by the peddler to save his stall to some unknown buyers.

After returning to the Craglows, one half of her body now adorned a tribal-esque design tattoo that stretched all the way from below her chin line, to the base of her ankle, and reached width ways from the right side of the middle of her chest to the middle of her back. The bit that stood out was the fact the tattoo seemed burned into her skin, and glowed blue. Though only visible when showing these parts of her body, she had become noticeably less mentally stable, with a fixation on fire that in turn now erupted from her feet in a spectacular blue hue.

After showing her 'gratitude' to the peddler who sold her, she took up residence in his home in the Craglows, and has lived there ever since. Doing odd-jobs for herself, and the Mayor of the town, she has made a noticeable reputation in the Islands of the Etoile, earning her the moniker: The Blue Devil of Sharkhead from the Scrapyarders and Family around Sharkhead Isle.

Personality

Excitable, unhinged, friendly, uncaring; Putting Atom's personality onto paper is more difficult than it seems. Her mannerisms seem mostly there, however she has a noticeable lack of empathy, shown regularly when she shows disregard for any of her actions that result in the misfortune of others around her.

Would normally speak in quite an up-beat tone; Cracking jokes, acting a bit silly, sometimes unintentionally flirty. When serious however, her voice takes on a flat, echo'y tone. Her body language changes too from flamboyant and expression-filled, to a static stance with only really her head making much movement.

She isn't completely without likeability: She show's a over-defensive kindness for people she sees as her friend, and will retaliate if someone/something means them harm verbally or physically. She is also able to differentiate (Most of the time) between friend and foe, but her trust is easily earned and easily lost in turn. She wouldn't hesitate to roast an ex-friend to death if they upset her. Other than that; She is like most other denizens of the Isles: She's there to survive, not make friends.

Powers/Abilities

Primary Powers

Blue Flames: These flames are Atom's main ability/power. Far from being just regular flames coloured blue; There are reports that say these flames almost seem alive, and are supposedly 'sticky'. Once attached to a person or object, it becomes near impossible to remove it or put it out. The best way would be to either remove the clothing before it burns through if the flames are on there, or use something to almost scrape the flames off your body, however of course this would mean removing whatever the flame is attached to as well. True to their hue these blue flames do burn a lot hotter than regular orange, yellow and red flames, being only below violet in terms of heat scope. This mean's that Atom's flames will burn through a lot of armour and clothing quite easily.

A downside to her flames is that she can only produce them from the soles of her feet. Though hardly a handicap, it requires her to fight mostly in a close combat situation, using her legs in a brawl-fashion. She can shoot the flames out quite far, but it requires her aiming her feet correctly. She also denies being able to use the flames to fly, but they do propel her along if she uses enough force.

Secondary Abilities

Thermal Resistance: Atom's body and hair is thermal resistant to both hot and cold temperatures. Her inner-heat signature of blue flames keeps her body at a high temperature, so while cold can slow her down it does not incapacitate her. In regards to heat; Anything below a blue spectrum temperature of heat causes no harm, but ultra-violet/radioactive heat can affect her.

Hand-to-hand training: From her time in the Craglows, Atom has learned basic hand-to-hand combat to compliment her flame abilities. Her fighting style is not a recognised form however, and mostly consists of violent, brash, heavy kicks coated in her flames.

Reinforced Skin/Bones: A little lesser known ability is her body is heavier and denser than a regular person her size. Able to take some abuse in a brawl, she is not bullet proof, but it will take more than a knife stab or club to the head to take her down.

Unknown Magic: Unknown to even herself; The tattoo on her body gives off a low-level magical aura that is nearly undetectable. It is unknown what purpose this magic serves, and she has no formal training in magic, but astute people would note it only centres around the tattoo and not the rest of her body.

Weaknesses/Limitations

Her psyche: Atom is a text-book psychopath. She is not a sociopath. Atom is manipulative, charismatic, and sprinkled with a touch of insanity. She can easily lead a normal life, but she is able to detach herself from other peoples suffering and hardships, even when she causes them. Though some may see this as useful for her, it can land her in sticky situations quite a lot. Psychopaths cannot function in normal society, and it is what gave her the reputation she has today. This in-turn can make her a target for others who don't appreciate a pyro-powered killer stalking the Isles.

Notoriety/Reports

RIP Massacre: On the 24th August 2019 the bodies of eleven RIP Officers were found in the slums of Mercy Island. Though their features were unidentifiable, and there is no direct witness to what happened, Atomiser is believed to have been behind this killing. The bodies were horribly burnt, only some of the badges were able to be recovered and were half-melted, and one of the bodies was still smoking with blue flames upon it.

The 'Sharkhead Incident': On the 12th June 2019 there was another riot between the Scrapyarders and Family on Sharkhead Isle. Atomiser was believed to be living in Sharkhead at the time, and while she had no affiliation with either, it was witnessed that she partook in the killing of both sides of the conflict. This was the first time the Scrapyarders used her moniker: The Blue Devil of Sharkhead, due to the sky above the junkyard being lit up a brilliant blue hue for hours after the event, and the reports that she was laughing like a crazed demon as she methodically killed everyone in sight with her flames. To this date there is no verified reason as to why Atom did this, however some say she was paid off by Arachnos to 'teach a lesson'. Atom denies having any affiliation with Arachnos though, and even avoids them in the Isles.

Craglow's Enforcer: As part of living in the Craglow's; Atom was given preferential treatment by the Mayor. She is one of the many Enforcer types there who help keep 'the peace', so to speak. Though using powers is heavily discouraged in the Craglow's, her blues have been seem many times there. Dispensing any idiot who decides to try their luck with the residents.

The USS Torrent: One of her lesser known incidents due to the Arachnos coverup; On the 30th November 2019, off the coast of Port Oakes, between the Nerva and Cap, there were reports of a ship completely ablaze with blue flames. It was later verified this was in-fact a supply ship heading to the Longbow base Agincourt that came under attack from an unknown assailant. The ship and all it's crew sunk to the bottom of the ocean, however it is not entirely clear if Atom was involved as the ship was quite far off-shore, and Atom advised herself that she cannot reliably fly with her powers. Any approaching vessel by sea also have been sighted by the USS Torrent long before they reached it, so some say it was either Arachnos that flew Atom there on one of their flyers, or it was completely unrelated to her.
