Early Years
Orphaned in East Berlin 28 years ago, Aurikon Usher lived a checkered past colored by brief insights of violence--as would be expected in such a hostile environment. From a tender age he began apprenticing under a chimney sweep. This lifestyle didn't last long for young Usher, who eventually tore his way through the iron curtain in Turkey after being knocked unconscious during a fall into a river. He was rescued across soviet border lines by an American news crew who were filming a story in the area.
His nights with the crew were few, when one of the men in a drunken rage attacked the young Usher cursing about his father who'd been killed by the Nazi's during World War II. The man eventually pulled a small .38 pistol on him. Usher wrestled it from his hands and actually committed an unsolved murder to this day. Taking a small case of ammo from the mans belongings, he robbed him and took off into the wilderness.
The travels over the next few years brought Aurikon to the city of Naples, Italy. It was here where he found his talent with a pistol, and with much practice became known as a sure-bet for local entertainment as a trickshot in shooting competitions and finally the Carnival of Shadows for a brief period of time.
Vanguard Recruitment
He caught the attention of a one Commander Callaway of the newly formed, U.N. sponsored, Vanguard coalition to repel the Rikti invasion. Callaway ventured to Italy to see the now-young adult Usher perform. If his skills were practical enough, which Callaway judged them to be, he would offer him a recruitment deal which would bring young Usher to America: A land of opportunity where he might help to save humanity in a way a circus performer might never have imagined.
Usher quickly accepted, always eager to explore new horizons. The following day he took his single suitcase of belongings and boarded a Vanguard C-130 transport aircraft for the United States.
The Malta Debacle
Usher had fought gallantly for the organization until recently when his contract was mysteriously severed. The nature of the circumstances that lead to this related to an indecent where a double agent (Malta and Vanguard) was betraying secrets about the later to the former. With the Malta being one of the very few organizations not on good terms with Vanguard, this was something they needed to stop. Usher had recently been growing tired of the corruption within Vanguard, and the "We'll take anyone with a pulse!" recruiting policy. He made the mistake of voicing this to someone who was--unbeknownst to him--on a mole hunt for the double agent.
The mole hunter was actually a subordinate of Aurikon, and had been looking to move up in the organization. Seeing a perfect opportunity, he claimed his investigation pointed to Usher and hoped by the time anyone was the wiser Aurikon would be deported. Vanguard was unable to find enough definitive evidence to prosecute Usher for the claim but in good conscience they couldn't let him continue to operate in his post.
Vanguard, being an organization known for "Low Priorities" (Especially in the Gauntlet division) cutting an operative like Usher loose comes as a surprise to everyone--including Usher.
Fearing he may potentially be a loose end in a less-than-savory scheme by Vanguard and needing defense contracting work to maintain his Diplomatic Visa, Usher was a free agent looking for a home.
S.C.O.R.P.I.O. Recruitment
It wasn't long before S.C.O.R.P.I.O. had their finger on the pulse of Usher's career. They picked him up in founders falls and by the end of the evening he'd be recruited into the organization. Usher now operates as a Special-Operations Agent for S.C.O.R.P.I.O.. He was granted US Citizenship upon entry and can be found either on missions, enjoying the night life of Paragon City, or in his Galaxy City loft provided by his employer.
