"Father..." he wheezed, exhausted of all energy. "...y-you can't do this..."

His father gazed at the product that lay before him on the hospital bed. He felt guilty, yet enraged. His frail son had deep red circles around his eyes, his hair had grown long, thin and frayed. His skin turned ghost white, he looked dead. His father gulped, half sad and half frustrated.

"Avalon...I'm sorry..."

Avalon looked into his father's formerly loving brown eyes with his own sad green ones. He hated his father, now. It wasn't long ago...but it felt like ages. A beautiful sunny day was marred by the black fingers of tragedy. His father, Jacob, had decided to take young Avalon out to the park. At the tender age of seven, Avalon frequented the park for the enrapturing and entertaining vendors who always had lots of candy. Candy that Avalon wouldn't fancy anymore. After his father refused to buy him any of the aforementioned candy, Avalon ran off, hurt and upset. And while hiding from his father, he was kidnapped.

Now these kidnappers, obviously knew how to do a good job. It was Crey after all. Because it was Crey, they also had an eye for people that would make good test subjects, and Avalon was one of those people. Arriving the moment Avalon slipped away into the intimidating black van which muffled his horrifying screams, Jacob Lancaster was powerless to stop the Crey. Traumatized and grief stricken, Jacob slipped into an intense depression, forever dwelling upon the death of his wife five years ago and the recent loss of his only son.

While most of the experiments performed on Avalon were largely innocuous, there were the spare few that were not.

It started with small vials, which evolved into pouches, which evolved into tanks. Crey (as well as Avalon) were unbeknownst that Avalon suffered from the hereditary genetic disorder of Hemophilia, a disorder in which it is impossible for the blood to clot or coagulate. When they learned about this, they fed upon it, sometimes letting blood flow from Avalon until he passed out or became sick. They expelled so much blood from his body, that he began to grow sick almost permanently. However, one day, they put all the blood they took out of Avalon, back into his bloodstream. Worried at first, he began to feel better rapidly.

However, a week after the blood was put back into him, the Crey lab was raided. Stuck inside of the dreaded hole for over seven years, Avalon was rescued and reunited with his father. However, his father chose not to welcome him warmly. During the period of time during Avalon's absence, his father had evolved from social drinker to abusive alcoholic. He would get completely drunk and yell obscenities about Avalon's effeminate nature and how he was disappointed that Avalon didn't "man up" and escape from the Crey labs.

Avalon, heartbroken, began to return this hate. Where was his father while he was trapped in the Crey labs? If anyone should have "manned up" it should have been his father. Their hate grew stronger every day, until things took a turn for the worse. Avalon had grown unbelievably sick in less than a day. He grew severely pale and would bleed randomly out of pores and his eyes. Terrified, Avalon called the hospital, which brings us to where we are now.

His father, tiring of Avalon's grumbling, left the hospital and left Avalon forever.

Left at the hospital with no parents or family to take him in...it was Avalon who slipped into a depression. His odd condition of bleeding got worse and no one was doing anything to help. His skin grew paler daily and his weakness grew with it. At the age of 17...he was finished, until he learned something new.

The horrendous hemophilia was actually helping him, making him stronger. While he appeared very weak and frail, he learned that he could lift heavy objects and that he could stop the blood that so constantly flowed from his pores to go in and out. He was even more surprised when he learned that he could form the blood into shapes like circles, squares and sharp cones. He realized that he could also "tense the blood," making it solid and sharp enough to stab. It became clear to Avalon that he couldn't stay in a hospital bed any longer. He had to get up, live, and fight.
