Disguises
- The Blue Sleuth - Carrie's most commonly used disguise. In this costume she utilizes her keen detective skills to help protect the citizens of Kings Row. The outfit is made of tough leather pants and a leather, four-button jacket, a fedora, leather boots, a dress shirt with black tie, a standard-issue PPD utility belt, and a mask that conceals Carrie's entire face.
- Officer Taylor - A PPD Officer disguise. For this to work Carrie forged and inserted documents creating a history for the Officer Taylor persona. As far as anyone in the PPD knows Officer Taylor is just another cop who walks the Kings Row beat. Carrie uses this persona to get information from police officers and retrieving information from their computers.
- Nikki Nails - This costume is Carrie's attempt at looking like a generic gang member, complete with a fake scar over her left eye. With it Carrie is able to travel through various circles of the criminal underworld and talk to contacts she would not have access to otherwise.
Character History
The Early Years
Carrie Anne Cobalt was born to Jonathan and Amanda Cobalt at St. Mercy Hospital in Kings Row in 1977. Jonathan Cobalt was a studier of the arcane arts who frequently traveled across the globe and Amanda Cobalt was a nurse in the hospital where Carrie was born. By her third birthday Carrie's parents were divorced, her mother unable to live with Jonathan's life of work. Even without her father around Carrie grew up happily, until her mother was killed in a mugging-gone-wrong when Carrie was seven.
Carrie was then sent to live with her father where she discovered a love of magic. With her father's tutoring Carrie was an adept mage by sixteen. On Carrie's eighteenth birthday she and her father attempted a powerful spell to contact her mother in the afterlife. To this day Carrie's still not sure what went wrong, but after a gush of strong wind blew threw their home Jonathan Cobalt fell over in pain as his life force was transferred into Carrie, doubling her lifetime while killing her father.
After this horror Carrie swore off magic and returned to Kings Row. There she became inspired by the heroes of the city and set out to become one of them. Promising not to use magic to aid her, Carrie studied the powerless heroes of the city and their methods of solving crime. From this, The Blue Sleuth was born. A hero whose anonymity was her greatest strength. Carrie began studying many forms of martial arts, training with knives, and becoming an adept detective.
For five years Carrie operated in Kings Row as The Blue Sleuth. She became known among the criminal circles for her stealth and refusal to kill. Carrie was happy with her life, and was content to live it out that way. Until she met David Taylor.
Starting a Family
David Taylor was a reporter for the Paragon Times. He specialized in controversial stories, believing that the truth should be known, know matter how much it hurt. Originally, Carrie only worked with David, aiding him and his research but not revealing anything about herself. Eventually, though, she found herself falling in love with him and when David brought up that he felt the same about her, she revealed her identity to him.
Carrie and David lived happily, eventually married and had a child they named Angel. But, as is only to be expected, it couldn't last. One of David's investigations was stepping on the wrong toes and he was murdered, when Angel was just a few months old. The loss devastated Carrie and she swore that no harm would ever come to her child. She began preparing several aliases and setting up an advanced home security system. Raising her daughter by day and protecting Kings Row by night, Carrie continued as the Blue Sleuth.
