The Past
Born on January 27, 1985, Sarah was the second child of Roan and Rosalie Novel. Compared to many others, her childhood would be described as “normal.” Her birthplace was in Seattle, Washington, but early on her family moved several times; first to Oregon, next to Illinois, and finally settling down in Liberty City. At age five, Sarah accidentally saw her father perform an extraordinary thing: he moved four trucks with only his mind. Little did Sarah know was that her father worked secretly as a Hero, always helping when he gets a call. It seemed like no one in her family knew, so Sarah decided to keep quiet until she was 17. She finally confronted her father and found out that he indeed was a Hero; he was one named Raveneagle. She also found out that her mother knew as well, though she was not a Hero herself. Figuring that they should find out on their own, she didn’t tell the secret to her siblings, Éclair and Sam.
After high school, Sarah took classes at her local university, wanting to be a magazine editor. During her second year of college, Sarah felt too much stress from life and decided to get away for a while. She traveled around different places, gaining experience and a better outlook on life. One day, she met John Locket, who coincidently also was just “traveling along.” Despite John’s quiet personality, Sarah was able to break his walls down and the two eventually got together and fell in love. Sarah finally felt like she could return to Liberty City and brought John with her, wanting to introduce him to her parents, who ended up accepting him as part of the family.
John and Sarah were living together in Sarah’s apartment when one day a huge fight broke out between the Fifth Column and a super hero group called the Liberty Titans, the group that Sarah’s father was a part of. This battle destroyed a bit of the city, including John and Sarah’s home, as well as almost taking both of their lives. A week after the battle, Sarah woke up in an unknown location from two people probing her with syringes. She tried to stop them from injecting the liquid in her, but it was too late. As Sarah got angry at the people for kidnapping and experimenting with her, her skin became very cold and wet, with blocks of ice suddenly appearing. Luckily, she knew basic self defense and used the ice armor to her advantage. She managed to escape and began to wander aimlessly, trying to get a feel for her newfound powers that she developed within the short time of being injected. Wondering what happened to John and her family, she began to travel to different cities, searching for any clues of their whereabouts. Eventually, she found Paragon City, a city larger than Liberty City that was thriving with criminals, but also had many more heroes.
