Dr. Maxwell Kroner, also known as Blueshift, is a part of the Infinity League.
History
Maxwell Kroner was no prodigy growing up. He worked his way to the top, tooth-and-nail, ending as the valedictorian of his class. This inspiration to work, grow and learn was what drove him into pioneering a new and innovative field that had only been dreamed of up until his studies: dimensional travel. Kroner attended a prestigious university studying quantum and theoretical physics. He wanted to pursue the future, and he knew he could find it in dimensional studies. It was all so theoretical and abstract that nobody had even worked on finding a way to discover other dimensions until Kroner came out of school with a PhD and a full job application over a decade later.
Kroner quickly joined the corporation Skyetech, which was only a fraction of what it is today. In Skyetech, he founded a new department in dimensional studies. Dr. Kroner, as he was now called, was said to be doing 'impossible' work, but with careful and precise analysis he managed to find a way around these limitations. It was several years before Dr. Kroner was able to complete Project K, but it paid off. He was able to create an astounding device that, when finely tuned, had potential to open a wormhole.
There were serious risks to the experiment, but Skyetech ensured that the project was kept secure. When it finally started, Kroner initially ran into issues regarding a mechanical malfunction. He attempted to fix it and re-run the test, but to his horror he realized that he didn't recalculate for this mechanical change and the test began in error. Kroner didn't think it would be too much of a problem until the portal became drastically overcharged. The lever was, miraculously, stuck, and the portal began to pull him in with immense force, completely removing the protective shield from its hinges.
Sucked into the abyss, Kroner panicked, but the same force that bound him pulled the switch up and immediately shut down the process. He dropped from his suspension in mid-air unscathed as security surrounded him in a strange slow-motion. Everything soon became clear: his pass through the dimensional portal somehow caused a temporal rift that permanently sped him up. In his perception, everything around him was extremely slow, but he was still moving.
Such a drastic change depressed Kroner immensely and sent him into a full downward spiral. His wife soon divorced him, realizing the challenges of living with him. Everyone around him would live a full, happy life, and he would die so quickly and painfully.
Kroner soon realized that he had to take control of the situation. He was fired from Skyetech when a whistleblower leaked details about the incident, which they denied despite the obvious proof that is Dr. Kroner. In the wake of the sudden rise of superheroes in Paradise City, Kroner decided to take up the mantle of Blueshift, a speedster who relies on his ability to analyze opponents and defeat them with as much accuracy and speed as possible. He acts, thinks, speaks and even breathes at a ridiculously fast pace, to the point that it becomes very difficult to understand him even when he is speaking 'slowly.' He is, unfortunately, rather easily frustrated despite usually being relatively mellow.
Powers
- Super Speed: Blueshift can reach insane speeds. He believes that if he had a way to ensure that he wouldn't grind himself into dust from intense friction, he could reach or even exceed the speed of light, but such extreme speeds could cause horrifying global repercussions. The faster he moves, the faster the world moves around him. At approximately 100 mph, Blueshift perceives the world around him as moving how it should. Any speed past that causes greater distortion of the opposite effect.
