As her name suggests, Canadian Champion is sponsored by the Canadian government and has been trained and equipped by the Royal Canadian Armed Forces. She is an agent of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and has performed numerous missions in the defence of Canada and its interests. While she is officially an agent of the CSIS she also serves the Royal Canadian Armed Forces when called upon.

Personality
Alex Cross is a patient woman who can be cold and calculating when the need arises but prefers to be laid back and easy going. She is polite and understanding to those about her, although she can’t help but sigh at some of the lame jokes made about her country from time to time. She playfully refers to American beers as ‘water’.
Character History
Before Her Powers Came to Be
Alexandra ‘Alex’ Cross was born in Terrace British Columbia to Sarah and Daniel Cross, a then Second Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Navy. When she turned 18 she moved to Vancouver, perusing a career in modelling when her father moved to the Canadian Forces Base in Esquimalt. Her family has a long military background, her Grandfather having taken part in the D-Day invasion and her Great Grandfather having been a Commander in the first World War.
For Want of a Bottle of Water
Modeling at first was difficult for Alex. She took a few odd jobs, even posing for a lingerie line twice while working part time at a grocery store to pay the bills. She accidently was bumped into on the bus one day, causing a prick on her arm, but never saw the culprit.
The man who pricked her arm was one Doctor Tomas West, who had been thrown out of every lab in the country for his radical ideas of how to improve humanities quality of life by creating a super serum, designed to give the user enhanced physical properties. Funded by a mysterious benefactor he discreetly collected blood samples from people he stalked, using a specialized needle to extract blood with innocent ‘bumps’ on the bus or metro line. After reviewing the data he found that one of the subjects, Alex, was the best fit for his purpose. Following her about for a week he learned of her favoured brand of bottled water, which routes she took through the city and where she’d set down her water bottle during her swimming exercise. Swapping her bottle for one of tasteless super serum he waited.
However he wasn’t as discreet as he thought. The next night, as Alex began to feel sick under the serum’s effects Doctor West was arrested, the man being tracked by the CSIS for a month, convicted of crimes ranging from inhumane experiments on humans to providing drugs and steroids to gangs. While the information of the serum itself was only inside his head they recovered the information on his unwilling test subject and quickly got her to a hospital.
She would recover, faster than anyone anticipated because of her new enhanced abilities. Finding her strength to be super human and able to run faster than most cars the CSIS approached her to help her gain control over her new abilities and in an effort to enlist her as an agent.
She was reluctant at first, but encouraged by her father and grand father she eventually joined the Canadian Security Intelligence Service at age 19.
Training a Champion
For a year she was trained endlessly by the Canadian Military in hand to hand combat, weapons, piloting, tracking, stealth and espionage. During one of her combat exercises she and her trainers encountered a group of Arachnos soldiers, arming a base in southern Ontario. Discovered before they could call for back up the under armed group managed to use terrain and their super powered trainee to acquire the arms of their foes to storm the base.
They found a large tank in the base’s workshop, stripped of its plating and a stockpile of Impervium to armour it. The tank was fitted with high tech weaponry, and with Impervium armour it would have proven to be a difficult machine to defeat. Once the base was brought under heel the Royal Canadian Armed Forces moved in and confiscated the Impervium in the base, ranging from bolts made from the metal to plates and even oddly shaped pieces. Alex herself kept one piece, a discus shaped piece with a riveted, reinforced edge that looked like it would be used as a hatch cover. After a moment of thought she had two straps attached to it, using the discus as her now signature shield.
Once her training was competed she was given a suit of specialized, flexible Kevlar that prevented the penetration of bullets and bladed weapons, but did little to stop the kinetic impact they had, knowing Alex’s own toughness would make up for it. The suit itself was red with a wide white stripe on it, like the Canadian flag itself, a red maple leaf on the chest. A steel faceplate with red trim was added to the ensemble and her shield was repainted with a large red maple leaf in the center, its edges red as well.
She was presented to her family first when she was ready where her grand father said she looked like ‘a real and true Canadian champion.’ The name stuck when she was presented to the public.
Canadian Champion
For almost three years she worked to securing Canada’s safety and wellbeing, fighting a mix of local gangs, empowered menaces and villains that thought Canada would be easier for them than American cities like Paragon. She also clashed irregularly with Arachnos, even fighting two of their Arbiters. At one point, however, they attacked the hidden detention facility that held Doctor West.
Doctor West had been interrogated, but refused to give up any secrets to his super serum, preferring to look smug and arrogant in his prison cell. Arachnos had eventually learned of him and sent a force to break him out, lead by Black Scorpion. Canadian Champion arrived in the middle of the break out with support from the Royal Canadian Armed Forces. The battle became heated with the Arachnos troops pinned down and unable to escape while the Canadian soldiers could not press forwards. Meanwhile Champion managed to infiltrate behind the lines alone, fighting her way to Black Scorpion and Doctor West. She engaged the Arachnos lieutenant, fighting him in a dragged out slugfest as the Doctor tried to escape only to be struck by Black Scorpion’s blaster cannon as it deflected off her shield. He was catapulted towards an already broken set of cell bars, ending up impaled through the chest. Canadian Champion was able to defeat Black Scorpion, but not before the Doctor died.
After Black Scorpion’s defeat the remainder of Arachnos surrendered. Most remain in custody although Black Scorpion and two of his more able men were broken out by Silver Mantis. With Doctor West dead any hope of learning of his serum died as well.
Worried at the continued attacks on their home front the CSIS decided they had to go on the offensive against Arachnos. It was decided that the best way to do so would be to send their agent to Paragon City, the best place to monitor them, disrupt their plans and eventually aid in assaulting the Rouge Isles. She was transferred officially to Longbow, but the organization has instead let her operate as a normal superhero, offering their resources and Intel. She currently resides in an apartment in Atlas Park.

Super Strength
Canadian Campion is able to lift upwards of seventy tons.
Enhanced Durability (Shield Defence’s True Grit and Deflection)
Canadian Champion is able to absorb more damage than a normal human. She is not invulnerable and is not bulletproof outside of her uniform, but can take more damage and recover faster.
Super Speed
Canadian Champion can run faster than 75 miles/120 kilometres per hour. She can push her limits beyond normal when needed.
Equipment
Costume with Steel Faceplate
Her flag inspired costume is made of lightweight and flexible Kevlar that offers her protection from bullets and bladed weapon penetration, but not their kinetic impacts. She is still able to shrug off lower calibre rounds thanks to this suit and still survive larger ones. The steel faceplate on her costume was added in to provide addition protection to her face, , mainly from bullets.
Impervium Shield
Her signature weapon for offence and defence is her Impervium shield. It is able to deflect or block almost any attack and she has learned to use it as a bludgeon, swinging it into the faces of her foes. She can also throw it at an opponent, but is still working on making it return to her. The shield itself is 1 meter or just over 3 feet in diameter and is just over 9 kilograms in weight or 20 pounds. Made of Impervium, the strongest known metal in the universe, the shield is unbreakable by any conventional, and most unconventional, means.
Colt Python Revolver (Temporary Power: Revolver)
A trained markswoman, Canadian Champion is apt at using firearms ranging from submachine guns, light machine guns, assault rifles, heavy anti-armour weapons, pistols and revolvers. Since she started using her shield she’s favoured use of a sidearm over other firearms since she only needs one hand to use them. Her preferred weapon is a Colt Python that was taken in a raid on a Hell’s Angels stash house.
Grenades (Temporary Power: Hand Grenade)
In addition to her Colt Python, Canadian Champion takes hand grenades to the field to clear out groups of foes or rooms before storming them.

Creator Notes and Trivia
- Canadian Campion started as a Martial Arts/Willpower scrapper, then a Martial Arts/Shield Defence scrapper before becoming a Shield Defence/Super Strength Tanker.
- Canadian Champion is a distaff counterpart to Captain America, both in being Canadian and female.
- All of Canadian Champions alternate costumes use the same shield design.
- She is able to throw her shield in roleplay situations only. At least until the devs make a ‘Shield Throw’ power.
- Her Colt Python is represented in game by the Revolver Temporary power.
- Canadian Champion uses the alternate bright animations for Jab, Punch and Knockout Blow as well as Haymaker's standard animation in bright. These animations give the impression of swinging her shield at foes, although the second Punch animation is just as likely to give a right cross as a left.
