An extremist is a person who favors or resorts to immoderate, uncompromising, or fanatical beliefs or actions. This is a term generally reserved for those who display religious or political radical behavior, however, it can also be applied to a rebel or freedom fighter by an oppressive or otherwise illegitimate government to instill fear of said 'rebels' into their people.
