Jinhwo had always known and was told that there was something special about his family. He was told this ever since he was about 5 or six. At such a young age, he didn't really care about it too much, but was always fascinated about the stories regarding the four celestial gods of Hyeonmu, Cheongryong, Baekho, and Jujak. As he got older, he became more curious. At the age of 16, he started studying what they were all about.
Two years later, his mother and father had finally revealed the secret to him. His father then teleported his family into a mysterious place to speak with the celestial god, Cheongryong. Arriving in this enigmatic place, Jinhwo was then informed that he has become the new appointed celestial warrior for the Azure Dragon.
Promptly, he studied his lineage, and his responsibilities as a celestial warrior. A few years later, he would once again be summoned to the same enigmatic place and he would be told of some impending doom. To stop it, he needed to find the other celestial warriors of the other gods, and head west. The Azure Dragon then opened a portal for Jinhwo to enter, but he couldn't help but feel that something went wrong.
Upon exiting the other end of the portal, he was in a place he didn't recognize. He arrived in a place someone would later refer to as Nova Pizza.
Cheong-ryong is the Korean name of the celestial god, Azure Dragon of the East, known as Qing Long in Chinese and Seiryuu in Japanese. This man is merely a celestial warrior of the god, not the god itself. He sometimes refers to the others as warriors of their respective celestial gods in his native language. For example, he'd refer to TJ as "Warrior of Baekho" (Bai Hu in Chinese, Byakko in Japanese) and to Johnny as "Warrior of Hyeonmu". (Xuan Wu in Chinese, Genbu in Japanese)
In the beginning, it would seem like someone else is missing. If there were supposed to be four of them, then where was the Warrior of Jujak? Thankfully, they'd find him not too much later. Jinhwo and the others then followed their instincts and headed west (as was told), which lead them to a place called Neutropolis. Here is where they would finally find a way back home. They would further find themselves in the United States. What they're supposed to do here... they have no idea at the moment.
