Trust Issues
--=Recording from Psych-Eval 2005-06-27 - Patient: Rikki Jericho #12d5609=--
Doctor:
- You have trust issues?
Patient:
- Me? Not a big fan of trusting easily or quickly.
- Trust... it's to have confidence and faith in someone... something. Its a short definition fer a word most people don't really seem to understand the gravity of don't you think? People go through life wit expectations of trust, some give it without consideration, and overall people don't take it too seriously. Guess it really depends on how easy life has been for someone.
Doctor:
- You don't trust because you didn't have it easy?
Patient:
- I got burned pretty early on by fate. Everyone should be able to trust their mother. There is that saying that mother is the name of god on the lips of little children, but if my mom is god, well this world has a lot bigger problems.
Doctor:
- So you don't love your mother?
Patient:
- *laughing* Never said I didn't love my mom, jus' said I don't trust 'er. Growin' up if I ever saw the woman sober I worried, usually meant she'd pissed off 'er dealer, or she got robbed and that meant I wasn't eatin' either. I don't trust her, but she's still my mom, and I love her, even if begrudgingly.
Doctor:
- Alright, well who do you trust?
Patient:
- *long silence and the noise of shifting* My squad...
- Saints...
- *another long extended pause*
- ...I'm done fer now, get out.
Doctor:
- Is that why you were so upset they died? Is it because they betrayed your trust by dying? Your squad mates, your squad leader Erik...
Patient:
- *loud banging noise* NO!
- Don't you dare ever say anythin' like that again. I trusted em like my family, I still do, they are my family. I'm upset at myself fer betrayin' them, for lettin' them trust me ta do the job. *voice is breaking slightly*
Doctor:
- *voice is tense* It wasn't your fault, the report shows that, the people who walked out of there did so because you did what you could. Its not a issue of trust.
Patient:
- Yet that ain't bringin' em back. I'm here an they ain't. Get out.
