Early Life
Pepper's Parents
Little is documented about the status of Pepper's parents, and as far as anyone's told her, they passed away shortly after migrating with their baby daughter from Ireland to the US. They more than dabbled in the art of magic; something that was well known throughout the small circle of friends they had made upon arriving to America. Word has it that information about the extent of their skill in the arts leaked out to the Circle of Thorns, but there is currently no evidence proving them responsible for their disappearance.
The Orphanage
Pepper spent the first nine years of her life in a beaten-down orphanage, never really expecting anyone to pick the cute little ginger-haired girl from the crowd of adorable little children to adopt. Pepper often busied herself learning textiles, particularly in the art of toy making. Her first success was a tabby "shoulder cat" by the name of "Chocolate"; who, equipped with an internal squeaker as a voice, kept little Pepper company on those lonely days when nobody else wanted to play.
The first ones to notice her strange magical abilities were the children she shared her home with. They often made fun of her, getting her to perform minor tricks and sabotaging them as a cruel way of isolating her for her differences. This merely hardened Pepper's spirit, and she grew increasingly determined to be adopted before every other kid that teased her.
Eventually, the orphanage administrators noticed her abilities and after much deliberation, they decided to send her to a little-known Elementary School for Magical and Wonderous Children; one of the most exciting things to happen to Pepper to date.
