Personality
Corn on Macabre is considered by many to be a dangerous sociopath, but the truth is he simply feels no more remorse for the loss of human life than humans feel over the death of plants. His demeanor is menacingly cheerful.
Powers
Plant Control
Corn has exhibited extraordinary kinship with almost all members of the plant kingdom (except Potatoes, which he loathes, having called them "shiftless and lazy" on several occasions). This empathic link allows him to control the growth and movement of almost all plant life within a radius of approximately 30 meters.
Abilities
Horrible Puns
Corn is capable of making terrible puns which have caused considerable damage to the psyches of his friends and foes alike.
Weaknesses and Limitations
Specist
Corn has made it very clear over the years that he has little patience for animal life in general and humans in particular. This skewed world view often results in unexpected reactions to even the most mundane topics. For example, Corn once flew into a murderous rage over the ending of "Jack and the Beanstalk", feeling that the titular beanstalk was unfairly murdered by "stinking mammal filth".
Character History
The being now recognized as Corn on Macabre was grown as part of an experiment to create hardier strains of corn which could be grown in areas traditionally regarded as uninhabitable. The company behind the research was A-Grow, a modest biotech startup founded by disgruntled Crey scientists. By exposing regular grains to exotic radiation, genetic alteration, and some rather unique fertilizer, A-Grow's scientists were able to create several promising strains of corn, but none were more unique than Strain X-13, which somehow began to develop anthropomorphic attributes.
After several months of growth, X-13 developed cognitive capabilities, including the ability to talk. The researchers were stunned by the display, only to later be brutally beaten by the crazed corn after it learned that they were growing it for the specific purpose of eating it.
In the wake of the incident, a warrant has been issued against Corn on Macabre for A-Grow-vated Assualt.
Recent Events
Secret Crisis Wars (on 52 Earths)
Corn recently managed to attach himself to Doctor Crom's team in the quest to find the fabled Eye of All, a powerful artifact that has supposedly recorded every activity in the multiverse. They were opposed by a team of heroes lead by Ascendant, and were ultimately defeated.
