All you need to know about Jayden Vansh is that he has a black hole for a heart. Don't question it, it's just a fact. - Kinsey McGrath
Background
The man called Jayden Vansh came from an alternate-Earth which had mastered deep space exploration. He graduated from the Great Federation of Oklahoma's Starfleet Academy in his youth and was made an ensign aboard one of their most prestigious ships weeks later. The ship, called "Xerath" was a lightly-crewed intercepter class ship used for fast travel and scouting missions to distant planets. During one such mission, the Xerath was set upon by an unknown fleet of alien craft. Their weapons ripped holes in the shields of Jayden's vessel and soon punctured the hull. His captain, in desperation, ordered the use of a developmental weapon; a device that created a small, super-concentrated pool of dark matter at the point of impact. The weapon had unforseen results.
The alien fleet and the Xerath were both pulled together into a larger-than-expected vacuum of dark matter. Particles colided noiselessly in the space between, Jayden watching helplessly in horror. A force struck him then and to this day he would never forget the feeling. In front of him, the dark matter vacuum swirled, pulling in the ships. But through him flowed an energy like no other. The weapon had caused some kind of temporal rift, sundering the fabric of the universe at a pin-point; Jayden's heart. It should have torn him apart, vaporized him, erased him from history. And it did in a way. As the dark matter vacuum enveloped Jayden, he closed his eyes and waited for the pain to end, having watched his crew disappear into the void.
