Energy Absorbtion
Dimension Man's prime ability. Rex's life force is augmented by cosmic energy. He is able to absorb ambient cosmic energy, and process it. The energy bolsters Rex's metabolism and as a result, he does not tire from any physical exertion. He can resist temperature extremes through mental concentration.
Once absorbed, Rex can project cosmic energy in the form of beams from his eyes or beams and flashes from his hands. This cosmic energy can be used as force, heat, light, and possibly other forms of electromagnetic energy.
Flight
By manipulating his body's density, Rex is able to make himself lighter than air. He is able to fly through means of expelling cosmic energy in order to propel himself in whichever direction he should choose.
Super-Vision
Rex is able to see through solid objects as well as possessing telescopic vision (zooming in on far away objects). It's rumored Dimension Man is also able to see into the "Nth Dimension", thereby viewing both the past and future events. Though it should be noted he's never claimed to actually possess such an ability.
Personality
On the surface, Dimension Man is a caring, brave and kind-hearted hero with a strong sense of justice, morality and righteousness.
Rex Mitchell himself is more reserved, mostly keeping to himself outside of work. He has a penchant for bowling as well.
History
Rex Mitchell was born in Globe City on January 1st, 1986. Brought up by a single, overbearing mother, Rex was never big into sports in grade school. He joined his high school's Journalism Club to get out from under his mother's thumb, but discovered he had a knack for it. After graduating high school, Rex earned an internship at the Globe City Gazette. He paid his dues and in just a few years was a fully-fledged investigative journalist.
Not unlike Paragon, Globe City was populated by a number of superheroes and super-organizations, though nowhere near as many as Paragon City. It was these heroes that Rex often found himself covering. Whip-smart and full of determination, Rex had a reputation as being a rather tenacious reporter. Once he discovered a story he deemed noteworthy, he didn't let up. Rex has a nasty habit for biting off more than he can chew. He's not one to let leads go unfollowed, no matter the risk involved. So when a battle broke out between the hero Stormbound and his nemesis The Everywhere Man, Rex was right there on the frontline, camera and notepad in hand. Caught in the crossfire, Rex was blasted with radioactive energy by The Everwhere Man and cosmic radiation by Stormbound.
Waking up in the hospital, Rex was relieved to hear he'd be fine, but angered to learn that Stormbound hadn't visited him once. He discovered his superpowers a week later and resolved to become a hero; a real hero unlike Stormbound.
