  Public Identity

Dolphin was the first of Crey Industries Paragon Protector: Poseidon Project to merge man with aquatic mammals. His hero name is simply Dolphin due to his DNA splice with a bottlenose dolphin, plus the fact that the name stuck.

He has since severed his relations with Crey Industries and won a public legal suit against them in 2006, claiming independence as a sentient being under the Civil Liberties Act of 2005. That act amended the Constitution to include beings not of human origin as citizens of the United States by way of birth. Also cited was the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause.

While his 'real name' is simply the label of the successful version of the experiment (Dolphin X-2108432, 356-A), he legally changed it to a more human name when he won his freedom in the courts. "Phineus Triton Orion", or as his signature usually denotes: Phineus T. Orion. The entirety of the name is taken from Greek mythology.

Crey Industries' failed defense was largely in part due to the benevolent nature of dolphins in the public eye, and the petitions of thousands of Americans. Petitions were submitted by many organizations, including many marine based foundations such as Sea World International, of which he is now a spokesman.

Crey Industries and The Countess were publicly humiliated from the televised proceedings. After the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Dolphin's favor, Congress began an investigation into Crey's Genetics Department. Those proceedings are currently stalled.

  Personality

Reserved to the point of being shy, yet still gets a giggle when he can get a room full of Nemesis fighting amongst themselves. His sense of humor is sneaky, and is rather jovial once he gets to know people. He is passionate about protecting marine life from environmental hazards perpetrated by negligent companies. This includes all forms of aquatic life and not just oceanic. Crey Industries really gets under his skin with their usual waste practices.

  Powers

Mind Control, Kinetics, Fitness, Flight, Speed, Psionic Mastery

  Abilities

Telepathic communication with marine mammals. He has tried this with fish, but ends up just stunning them.

He has found it to be a good way to get tuna, though.

  Equipment

Midnighter's Pass, Pocket D VIP Recall Beacon, Oroborus Temporal Teleport Beacon, Headquarters Recall Beacon, Police Band Radio, Vanguard Power Sink, Ghost Slaying Axe, Nemesis Staff, Fae Energy Booster

  Battle Cries and Catch Phrases

  • "Will fight evil for fish!" Said when looking for work.
  • "Skreee!" (Approximate) Said with various inflections, ranging from glee to rage.
Known to upset Sea World's inhabitants when said loud enough.
  • "So long, and thanks for all the fish!" Said when leaving.
  Trivia

  • It is rumored that Dolphin and Captain Mako have a mutual hatred. Whether this is due to them being on opposite sides of the law, biological differences between sharks and dolphins, or a combination of the two can only be speculated. When asked, Captain Mako was quoted as saying "@#$& Dolphin and his safe tuna." This was followed by a trip through the medical transporter by the reporter who asked the question.
  • Countess Crey has placed a bounty on Dolphin's head for "Acts of Terrorism" against the company, and for publicly embarrassing her through his successful suit for independence.
