Origins

No one knows when Ivan was born or if that was his real name. From what little information that exists on Ivan his parents were Russian and he was raised in a small village on the border. According to official reports the village was raided by a radical Chinese militant group. In reality Ivan was directly responsible for the massacre, in a fit of madness he decided to "silence all the voices". Using his mind control abilities to pit everyone against each other.

Ever since Ivan was a young boy he was believed to be a genius. Able to solve any problem that came to him, able to deduce an issue to reach a solution. But in reality he was simply reading the minds of others and utilizing his abilities as a seer. As a young child he thought everyone had voices in his head, that was simply the way how people thought. But as he grew older more voices appeared in his head, and he was no longer to control them. By his early teens he was seeing entire histories of the people around him, hearing their thoughts, and unknowingly learning about every secret they had. This forced him to rarely leave his home, his parents the only thing capable of soothing him. But, all that would change.

One day when things in his head were "quiet" he accidentally saw his parents history and learned the terrible secret of his birth. His father wasn't his real father, instead he was the product of a rape. This caused both his parents to secretly despise him, and this was simply too much for young Ivan to bear. In a fit of madness he deemed everyone filthy, and wanted them all to "shut up". The end result was him forcing everyone to murder each other.

Post-Village Massacre Ivan

During Ivan's childhood there was an emergence of terrible accidents at the hands of metahumans and other super beings. The massacre of the village didn't go unnoticed and Ivan was soon hunted down by a division of the CIA responsible for recruiting methumans and other super beings in order to utilize them in the Cold War to ensure the West would tackle their adversaries in the East. Although this gives an idea the Ivan's minimal age there is no reports stating his age, appearance, or even his condition when he was found.

Through the metahuman program Ivan's power was analyzed and through analyzing his genetics discovered it was the result of a mutation. After years of a combination of testing and training Ivan was given a special suit designed to suppress his powers, and more importantly, prevent other people's thoughts and histories from leaking into his mind.

Ivan's career in the CIA

Although Ivan was trained how to utilize his powers for combat he specialized in using his power to get information. In covert operations he could act as an "ultimate radar". Learning the locations of enemy forces and targets around him, and learning numerous information from them by reading their histories and minds. Ivan also was one of the first men called upon to interrogate individuals who would normally be tortured to get critical information. On the occasion the CIA "lent" Ivan to the FBI in order to gain evidence to put super villains in jail.

The effect this had on Ivan's mind

After years of reading the minds of some of the world's most vile people, Ivan's already instable psyche was starting to crack. More and more he started to see the evils of humanity, and starting to develop misanthropic feelings for humanity. Occasionally, when he removed his gear, he would look into society in hopes he could find redeeming qualities. But he saw the same thing in everyone, even in some of the most pure super heroes. It wasn't a matter of time his view of reality became twisted, and Fatal Psychosis was born.

Fatal Psychosis

In order to keep his faith in humanity Ivan would remove his mask and allow himself to hear the thoughts and see the histories of the American society. On these rare occasions he, for a moment, became aware of everything going on in the USA and every bit of history from every living person. He would try to use this knowledge to focus on the good aspects. But seeing what was going to happen to America in the future and how society would, in his eye, decay even worse then it had now. He became extremely misanthropic.

In a fit of madness generated by reading the mind of a super villain turned serial killer he utterly destroyed the individuals minds, had everyone in the building he was in brutally massacre each other, and left the building. For security reasons all information retaining to Ivan was contained in that building. His age, specs of his abilities, his exploits, records of his appearance, and even future events he predicted were archived. This information was lost in the chaos.

After breaking out he became a Mercenary, providing his abilities to whoever at a price that wildly fluctuated depending on how he thought of the client. He was given the reputation as an unreliable bastard who was nearly impossible to work with. Yet people still wanted his services simply because he was the easy way to learn information. It should be noted Psychosis took particular interest in jobs which would result in another human being suffering. At times providing free information just to see a client suffer knowing their worst fears were true.

Role in the Weapons Union

Fatal Psychosis met Nicholas Williams on the job and, oddly, took a liking to him. According to Psychosis Nicholas's asexuality and disliking of the idea of passing on his genetics made him different from everyone in the world. In all the minds Fatal Psychosis divided into, he saw the same urge to pass one's genetics. He saw this so much he became utterly disgusted at the thought and, therefore, quickly finds everyone he meets "disgusting and pathetic individuals dominated by their genetics."

Despite his liking for Nicholas he rarely obeys orders and is the Union's "Wild Card" Informant. This is because Psychosis' personality often generates fights with allies and even within the Union. Because of this, and other reasons, he is kept in a "Quiet Room". A room designed to completely shut Psychosis from the world.

Powers

Unlike most Psychics on the Isles, Fatal Psychosis' powers differ from most. That and a majority are "partly" psychics (the OOC origin being that their archetype isn't a full Psi dominator, or has no Psi powers but is RPed as a psychic) puts him on a "higher level" then others. The key difference is the method Psycho reads minds.

In traditional mind readings you could say a psychic's "thoughts" are going into a person's brain. From there those "thoughts" gather information and travel back to the psychic's mind. Psycho, on the other hand, is like a "magnet" for thoughts and history. Information travels directly to him "of it's own free will". Psycho also has the ability to force his "thoughts" into the minds of others, but only uses it to manipulate them.

Psycho is also a seer. Meaning he can see a person's past and their "current" future. Psycho has no control over this and can't see a single point in time. Instead he sees everything the person has done or will do in their lifetime.

How it works OOC

For the most part, when he uses his powers on player characters it requires a great deal of co-operation. Generally I do this in the form of tells, asking permission and cooperation in what I have planned. I try my best to approach these matters in a polite and respectful manner.

It is possible to reject Psycho's powers, but that is only if your level is significantly higher then his or you have a power that offers psionic protection (such as Electric Armor). These rules go hand to hand with "conventional" rules of RP fighting within CoX. Also, I will accept sensible RP explanations. Such as a character being hypnotized so much, prior to the meeting, that it forms a "mental barrier" that Psycho can't crack. Robots and other mindless beings also can't have their minds read.

In cases where I chose not to use Psycho's powers (in respect for another person's decisions/keeping secrets about character histories), Psycho just acts like himself. RPwise it -may- happen as him knowing the information (if a proper explanation can't be provided), but he'd act like too much an ass to say or do anything.
