Current Theme Song: "Graveyard BBQ - Cheat On The Church"
Felis is based off the idea that there are too many "generic" cat-girls running around, and I felt that I should be the one to break the mold. While there are a few stereotypes here and there, I suppose that they're unavoidable. Her story is ever changing, and until the days that I stop playing her you can expect a lot more Issues to pop up!

She used to be (and in a way still is) the familiar for her previous master. As such she channels a great amount of dark energy, and sometimes it has adverse effects on her. She has perfected the art of shapeshifting, even going so far as to create a human form for herself to "blend in." |
The Character
Description and Personality
When her mistress wanted a capable familiar, she made sure she did a good job. Taking a young kitten from the alleys of Mercy Island she performed a ritual to grant the creature intelligence and a more humanoid form. Felis is very young. While very intelligent and eager to work, mentally she is the equivalent of a 5 or 6 year old girl. She tends to be anxious and hyper (especially when away from Abyssal). Some of the more superstitious types may fear her, being that she's a black cat. The more racist types beat on her for being a catgirl. The latter tend to be shredded to the best of her ability, as while the spell may have changed her body she still sees herself as a cat, and absolutely despises being grouped in with "that crowd." She has no common sense however, and will often do things that the more experienced would avoid, such as trying to eat the regents for some spell. Her intelligence sometimes tends to be a burden, as it comes in a bundle with both long term memory and human emotions. She remembers her feline family very well and misses them dearly, hoping to reunite with them someday.
Above all it is important to keep in mind that Felis is not evil in any way. She was conditioned by Abyssal Siren, and after leaving that influence she has become much more lighthearted, kind, and catty. She is no more evil in personality or motives than Statesman, however having no common sense and only knowing what she is taught by those around her, she has no idea that stealing and kidnapping is wrong.
Character History
Issue 1: New Life
Born to the felines "Fluff" and "Kayle" of the Mercy alleys, this kitten entered into the world with 1 brother and 2 sisters, a decent sized litter. It was a simple life and she was happy, but no sooner had she opened her eyes that the witch Abyssal Siren took her to use as a familiar. A spell later and she took a human form, frightened and confused. She was caged for several days until she came to her senses, then taught all Abyssal knew about what abilities she could muster while channeling Abyssal's dark energy. They soon set out together, aiming to make a name for themselves in the Rogue Isles. However, Felis began to become more and more like the cat she is, rebelling against Abyssal on several occasions and taking off on her own for longer and longer periods of time. One night, after a particularly scathing "talking-to" from Abyssal she took off into the darkness and never looked back.
Issue 2: Wild World
Off on her own for the first time Felis was scared and confused. She had no idea where to go, how she would feed herself, or where to find shelter. She wandered for several weeks digging through trash bins and dumpsters, sleeping in cardboard boxes, until finding herself back at the Pocket D one rainy day. A tired, hungry, dirty, soaking wet Felis dragged herself through the doors, immediately spotted by one of the bartenders. She was taken to DJ Zero who, in a show of generosity, offered her a meal and a place to stay. In return she kept the club rodent free (an easy job there), and cleaned up the messes some of the club's patrons made on occasion. It was a happy time for her; She was warm and fed and made friends around the D. Her personality opened up and she began to show more of her catty side. One day she spotted a strange sight, a pirate. Felis roamed closer to listen in on the conversation the woman was having with some associate of her's, her curiosity getting the better of her. She began to stalk this pirate woman, a miss Crimson Cutlass, until she finally got up the courage to show herself.
Issue 3: Arrr, Pirates
Turns out it was a good idea to show herself. While not happy with the "form" Felis took, Crimson Cutlass was more than willing to have the kitten on her crew as the communications expert. Felis picked up the trade quickly, developing new tech and upgrading what they already had. However, Crimson Cutlass is a strict captain and is particularly so towards the young cat. Felis is still desperately trying to prove herself, and is far from giving up. While trusted she still walks the fine line of being "thrown overboard," so to speak.
Issue 4: Evil Evil Cat
As if being changed in a humanoid form wasn't enough, the dark energy coursing through her body recently changed her again, merging her with her symbiotic split-personality more fluently. Her body also transformed into a demonic hellspawn form, leaving her dazed, confused, and very frightened. She eventually came to terms with the transformation but has yet to discover how to reverse the effects. For the moment though she doesn't mind, still fascinated with her wings and with the flames that, unless she's frightened, are cool to the touch. She finds that her wings are quite an oddity, always smoking and dropping ash around her and yet never seeming to lose any mass. Since her experimentation and journey into the technological realm this is the first case she's seen of REAL magic. The transformation seems to have strengthened her summoning abilities, allowing her to reinforce and strengthen her minions like never before. She also senses that they have the strength to lift her, this becoming most apparent when she jumps. She's hoping that soon she'll learn how to use them to fly.
Issue 5: A Partnership
As Felis grew, she became more withdrawn and lonely. Her increasingly depressed mood was starting to affect those around her, and eventually one member of the Aces approached to ask what was wrong. Zyren Treskal, already friends with Felis, showed that she really did care. Felis explained that she was feeling all alone, that after she left Abyssal she just wanted someone to look up to. No matter how large the group she was with, she felt all alone in the crowd. Zyren stepped up to the call and offered to adopt Felis, going so far as to put together a gold collar with an ivory tag just for the little cat creature. Felis seemed like a new person, bright and cheerful. Who knew that it would go so far...
Issue 6: Shadowspawn
The collar was not purchased. Not even close. Zyren meant well, she put together the highest quality materials she could get her hands on. Unfortunately and in particular, she happened to come across an enchanted ivory statue, which was what she used for the tag. She didn't know that as a nexus of power from one plane to another, Felis was sensitive to magical artifacts. A few days after the adoption, Felis appeared from the shadows, no longer the cat she saw herself to be. She had grown scales, scaled wings, and her eyes had energized with a white, searingly bright light. To be honest, Felis was barely phased. She had become used to shapeshifting from her demon-like form and back regularly, so this wasn't much of a change. Settling down to study the change, she slowly learned how to control the form, and shifted back into her usual self in no time. An idea crossed her mind however. It was the perfect disguise! She could infiltrate Paragon City, register as a hero using the lizard form, and no one would be the wiser! It was perfect! She headed towards Bloody Bay, shifted into her new form, and crossed the warzone. Cloaking herself in shadows she snuck by the guards into the main city, and headed straight for City Hall.
Issue 7: Confessing Her Sins
For various reasons following this, Felis left the Dread Aces. As she learned, she grew more and more aware of her surroundings. The habits trained into her by the witch Abyssal, as well as the ones taught to her by the members of the Aces, just weren't what she had in mind for her future. She had become much more wise. Her future was something she wanted to develop for herself, not something to be controlled by those around her. She now knew the difference between good and evil, and no longer was the brunt of the remark "well, she doesn't know any better." However, she didn't quite agree with the heroes either, and became a vigilante of sorts. Soon she revealed her ability and identity to various members of the Freedom Phalanx, stepping forward to pay for her crimes. They were very kind to her however, and wisely recognized that she had not quite been in control of her own actions. After a solemn vow to uphold the general concept of the "Greater Good", they released her back into the streets. She was no longer a villain. She was never a hero. She was herself, a creature of many faces, and her own set of values. Her confession to the Freedom Phalanx was kept extremely confidential, and those from the Rogue Isles had no idea what she had done. She was free to walk on both sides of the war in different identities, working where and when she saw fit.
Issue 8: Holes in Space-Time
"Praetorian Earth? You're jokin' right? Have you met yourself? Talked to yourself? Ever looked int' a mirror, and the reflection moved without you? Didn' think so." One of her experiments with Zyren, delving into the world of technology, ended in ripping a hole through the fabric of space itself. What she saw shocked her. On the other side of the hole was the same equipment she currently had set up herself. The wires were all there, the junk piles in the corners were there, even the scorch marks. There was however one big difference. There were two cat creatures on the other side, looking back. They both, in their own way, looked like mixed versions of Felis and Zyren put together, and was a very odd sight indeed. The "copies" passed through the rip and stood before Felis and Zyren, introducing themselves. It turns out that in their dimension, they were adoptive sisters, with various mixes of magic and science creating the forms they were in. Their histories were very similar to Felis and Zyren's, though almost completely swapped. It was as if they were somehow exact opposites. It was apparent after a long conversation that these "copies" intended to stay in this dimension, for their own reasons. A group was formed, the Treskal Foundation, using Zyren's father's company.
Issue 9: Worlds Apart
The Treskal Foundation formed, research began on various subjects. One of which was a way to change the alternate Zyren back to the way she was before. The alternate Felis appeared to enjoy her new body, and while she encouraged the work for her older sister, she had no intention of using it herself. In the mean time, rumors were spreading that an attack was on the way. Not an attack of heroes versus villains, or some smaller faction attempting to rise up in the world, but a full scale global attack by an alien menace known as the Rikti. The four head members of the Zyren Foundation began work on various suits designed to disrupt Rikti energy. Felis, now withe practiced ability to shapeshift, changed herself to the same specifications of each of the other members. She personally field-tested every suit herself, something that surprised the others. Being so young, she still understood what was coming was a danger to all, and was stepping forward selflessly to protect the others.
Issue 10: The Mothership Has... Risen?
One fateful morning the Rikti forces began a full scale assault on the planet, focusing specifically on the location of their fallen Mothership from so long ago. This area quickly became a warzone, and a force dedicating themselves towards the defense of the planet versus the Rikti, known as the Vanguard, locked down the entire area. When the call was put out for heroes and villains alike to join their cause, Felis immediately applied. Leaving the others back at the secure headquarters to continue research on a cure for the alternate Zyren, Felis fit herself into her battle suit and began aiding the efforts of the Vanguard. Every so often she augments her armor with Vanguard technology and equipment, as well as doing the same to their's, and is turning herself into a force to be reckoned with.
Issue 11: Nuts and Bolts
Having become comfortable with her connection to the forces of the dark, Felis dove deeper into the circuits of technology, experimenting and creating. Soon bits and pieces began to form into moving figures, the beginnings of a robotic minion. This struck a chord with her, after all, she practically did the same thing to create her zombies. Naming her highest quality "Rob" in honor of her Lich friend, she took to the streets again under the alternate threat ID name "Felis Tekica", and once again began to do her thing in the Isles. Soon however she grew bored of the 'bots, and dismantled them. She has tried several other attempts, including recruiting a gang and hiring ninjas, but none lived up to the feeling her undead minions gave her. She fell back to them and continued her adventures, skimming through various assignments tossed aside and every so often talking to Ghost Widow. She seems to be plotting, and it might just have to do with the upcoming "promotions"...
Powers and Abilities
Necromancy and Shadow Magic
From her times with Abyssal Siren, Felis learned how to summon the undead to her side to help her fight. While the lesser of the minions are quite stupid, one appears to be rather intelligent. The one she calls "Robbie" is an eloquent speaker, almost as skilled in technology and mechanical workings as she is, and Felis considers him her best friend. (Crimson Cutlass is not in the least pleased.) She also learned to use the shadows to her advantage, shrouding herself and her allies for protection as well as hindering her enemies' aim or disorienting them in pure darkness. While using her shadow powers her yellow eyes glow brightly, similar to if you shined a flashlight down a dark alley and a cat looked back at you.
Enhanced Abilities
Due to her unnatural powers she has developed some interesting traits. When really energetic she can warp darkness around herself, allowing her to move at near supersonic speeds. Her body turns to shadow as she does so, and seen from above she looks much like a smokey torpedo blasting down the streets.
Demonic Influence
Being directly tied to and channeling dark energy for so long has had some effect on her. During very heated combat she'll become bloodthirsty and feral, diving into the middle of enemies just seeping of black energy. Her eyes go from their usual yellow to a glowing red, and in the most severe of cases the smoke around her will form into a sinister outfit, enhancing her powers. Lately she has changed into a much more demonic look, the mere smoke having erupted into flames and wings burst from her back. She no longer seems to be bloodraged during this change, though she's mentioned on several occasions she still has this urge to kill someone.
Shapeshifting
Having changed so many times due to her unstable nature, she has finally learned how to fully control the ability. Using the powers of the Netherworld itself she can shift her form to suit her needs, and has quite a few identities under her belt.
Strengths
- Commanding Skills - As she grows and matures, she has started taking control of the teams she comes in contact with. After joining the Vanguard she had pretty much elected herself as a Commander, fitting herself with a headset and hacking it into the Vanguard Security frequency.
- Technology Genius - Despite her magical background, Felis has great skill with technology. She pretty much single-handedly developed the prototype AEBA, or Anti-Rikti Energy Battle Armor, and is constantly upgrading the technology. She also worked out a deal with the Vanguard and, with the help of an armor researcher, has upgraded the Vanguard equipment with her schematics for disrupting Rikti weapon energy. Other than the higher-ups no one in the Vanguard, Hero Villain or otherwise, knows that she has had such a large part in the development of these new armor plates being made available to all.
Weaknesses
- Catlike Personality - She is still, in part, a cat. As such the typical cat toys and distractions will get to her as well as common curiosity. One particularly strong case of this is the catnip-filled toy mouse she carries with her. When bored she will take it out of a pocket and swat it around, or even simply just chew on it as she listens to those around her. If this mouse is taken from her she will become frantic, panicky, emotional, and otherwise insane. She'll desperately do just about anything to get it back. Lately she has kept this mouse very well hidden, so that no one can take it from her.
- Small/Lightweight - She is easily beaten and knocked around by those around her, and because of this she typically stays back away from the fray allowing her partners and undead "friends" to do the work.
- Little Fighting Skill - While she has claws and fangs, and catlike reflexes, the problem is so do some of her enemies. Even those without fangs and claws have amazing reflexes, are stronger, and have fighting experience. For the same reason as above she prefers not to get close, and when she does she blasts off as quickly as possible.
Recent Events
((Updating when I have time o.o))
In Daily Life
She's currently fighting the war against the Rikti, and has even appointed herself as a commander. She's extremely active in the crusade towards ending this war, fighting very viciously.
A Special Occasion
Felis showed her face at the wedding of DJ Shecky and Supermum. She was dressed in what she thought was a very uncomfortable jacket, but for Shecky she felt it was well worth it. She was shocked to spot Ghost Widow in all her glory at the event, dressed in a shiny red dress, and Felis hastily asked a local bystander to take a picture of them together. She thought it is a high point in her life, being able to stand in the presence of such a great figure. She hoped to take on Ghost Widow as her mentor, but was declined. She wasn't upset however, she knew some day she would learn to be more like her "hero."
The Warzone
With the Rikti on the attack, Felis donated her research on "Anti-Rikti Weapon Energy Focii" to the Vanguard. With the help of a researcher she has helped incorporate these compounds into the new armor being produced daily. As more and more Heroes and Villains show up to help for the cause, many are being equipped with these new armor sets. Surely some have made the connection between the armor and effects it has on Rikti weapons, which may explain why so many are scrounging for merits.
