Game Hunter is a mix of numerous inspirations. Partly my love of Tech-suit style characters, and my desire to come up with a -real- bad guy. Someone who is without a doubt evil, but if you met him without knowing it he'd blend right in.

Personality

Arthur is a polite, pleasent individual known to show manners to everyone he meets, at least until they do not return the favour. Then he shows a slightly aggressive and competitive side. However, beneath all that is a truly sociopathic maniac who sees people as nothing more then tools to be used for one of two purposes. Firstly, they could be used to reaffirm his own view on himself, by surrounding himself with their attention. Secondly, they could be used for his entertainment.

One of the most unique components of Game Hunter is the reason he turned to a life of villainy. Pre- his life in the Isles, he was well known to be a great hunter, having killed many animal species. However, this left him wanting more, wanting a hunt worthy of his skill. It wasn't long before he considered the idea of hunting Super-Heros, what he calls 'The greatest hunt of all'.

Powers

He has no direct 'powers' himself, but his ability's stem from his suit of armour. It is an incredibly powerful suit with a modular design, capable of easy modifications. It's currently unknown where he obtained the suit, but current belief is that it was purchased off an Unknown Genius. Even in it's most basic style it's still a suit capable of withstanding heavy arms fire with ease, and able to increase it's wearer's strength to the extent that it can lift trucks over it's head.

Increased Strength

The exact degree of strength the suit is capable of it unknown, as Game Hunter himself has shown no interest in testing it. It is known he is capable of ripping Bank Vaults off their hinges, and lifting trucks up over his head to use as projectile weaponry.

Flight

The armour renders Arthur capable of flight by unknown means. It seems able to generate an anti-grav field through unknown means, but for actual propulsion it relies on a series of jets built into the suit itself. The flying is meant to be a way to get from A to B, and as such he has no subtle manouvering thrusters in place. Although considering the sheer velocity of his flight capabilities, coupled with the massive protective abilities of his armour, this flight could itself be considered a weapon, with Game Hunter himself being turned into a projectile. Analysis of these factors suggests he could 'jet' through a millitary air transport with ease, bursting through it unharmed.

Increased Durability

Once again, there is no definitive answer on the armour's damage absorbtion ability, but it is known to be very impressive. Small arms fire is completely ineffective, and even the kinetic force of a shotgun blast to the chest doesn't even slow him down. Perhaps the most telling test of his strength was when he engaged the Heroine Giga Gal in combat, and managed to not only survive a barrage of punches, but was capable of giving perhaps as good as he received (at least for a little while, before he was forced to retreat). In addition, should damage actually take place, the armour is capable of administering pain-killers as necessary to the occupant.

It's currently believed that a large amount of the protection his armour offers is in the form of a protective field microns above the metal plating, which acts mostly as a conductor. However, the metal of the armour itself cannot be discounted, being composed of an unknown, highly resistant alloy.

Armour adaptability

As mentioned above, the armour itself is incredibly adaptive, and already Arthur has had a modification designed with many more planned for the future.

Reaper

The first of many designs, and currently the only one in action. In exchange for his assistance in dealing with irritating Metahumans, many different groups (including Arachnos) have given him various pieces of experimental equipment. With the help of a highly paid engineer, these were formed into a device that functioned as an 'ambient energy absorbtion' system. In effect, when around powerful meta-humans, the system absorbs the excess energy they put out and uses it to power his armour. This render's him stronger and tougher, to a degree determined by the energy put out by the Meta Human in question. Currently the energy loss is less then 1%, which means that although still not perfect, it does increase his abilities to VERY close to his foes own.

However, this suit modular system is not without drawbacks. Firstly it puts out a great deal of heat within the suit, making it incredibly uncomfortable for extended durations. Secondly, while putting him on a level playing field with individuals who powers are specifically strength and durability based, it does not make him particularly any faster or grant him additional powers. In other words, against a Speedster he is unable to hit, it would make him stronger and tougher, but wouldn't affect his inability to strike his foe. Or against a foe with power over gravity, while it might give him a slightly better chance of being strong enough to move under it's influence, he would still be easily held to the floor by the heavy gravitational pull.

Obelisk

The next modification of his armour, recently been introduced to the unsuspecting (and unfortunate) Rogue Isles. The variation boasts a system of minor field emiters placed over his entire armour, and a heavily ramped up generator. This many fields provide incredible protection from nearly any physical attack known to man. However, it also provides an enormous drain upon his armours resources, and very likely could NOT be kept up for more then a couple of minutes, even with the heavily improved power system. It seems the Obelisk is more a modification upon current armour variations, allowing any of his systems to function under its influence.

Warlord

The newest variation. Rather then simply modifying a copy of the armour, this suit is rebuilt from the ground up. It's lighter, providing not quite as much sheer protection and physical power as his other variations. It makes up for this by a greatly enhanced 'Ambient Energy Absorbtion' system. This in turn powers a self repair system within the armour, as well as energy release disruption pads within his fists. While he doesn't possess as much pure strength and toughness as before, he is far more agile in this system, and can release more destructive energy.

The disadvantage is as the system is rebuilt from scratch, it requires him to effectively learn how to use it again. The eqivilent of relearning how to walk.

Limitations

In Armour

The 'Gargoyle' armour he wears is more then capable of holding it's own in melee combat, but it's lack of ranged capabilities renders him rather impotent if his target sees him first, and has strong ranged abilities. However, this can be nullified somewhat by his cunning, which often means he ambushes the target instead of fighting them fairly.

In addition, each of his above modular system functions in a very specific way that leaves them open to numerous weaknesses. For example, his Reaper system provides him no assistance against a natural, skilled human. While he still has the baseline strength and durability, a natural human who's learn to combat advantages like that would easily have the advantage in combat. In addition, the Obelisk system only has a short lifespan in which it can operate before the generator crashes for a few moments, reducing his armour to nothing more then metal plates. The Warlord modification, as well as being the one he's least familiar with, also has less physical protection.

Out of Armour

Out of his armour, Arthur is just a normal man of above-average fitness. Against anyone with combat training of any sort, he would be easily defeated. In addition, it is very difficult for him to put the armour on with any haste, meaning should he be ambushed outside his armour he would be at the mercy of his foe.

Character History

Unlike many villains, from all reports Arthur Mandrut's life was beset with no hardships of any type. His parents (still alive, if estranged) doted upon him, and he was the toast of the social scene among the remnants of the English aristocracy. It was during his early twenties he became involved in the hunting scene. Within just a few years, he became almost addicted, killing wildlife whereever he felt he could get a challenge.

There's no direct point we can identify where he ceased to see other people as people, and they became hunting targets. Psychologists who analysed him during his incarceration in the 'Zig' state it is likely that he is a sociopath, and thusly unable to empathise with any others. In their opinion, the only reason it wasn't obvious before is he had a use for the people around him, in most cases so he could be the centre of attention.

Whatever the reason, he vanished for several months mid 2004, and when he next reappeared he was sporting his current armour. It's configuration and technological base is unknown, all that we do know is that it gifts him with remarkable resistances to most forms of attack, as well as incredible strength (he's been recorded in the past ripping prison doors off their hinges almost nonchalantly). As well as that, it gifts him with a limited flight capacity, and possibly other unknown abilities.

He was sighted early August walking down the streets of Paragon city, and mostly ignored (witnesses claimed to have believed he was just another armoured hero) until a passing hero was picked up off his feet and, for lack of a better term, pulverised to death, even the Hospital systems unable to fix him.

He killed three more heroes before being arrested finally. When asked why he did it in interrogations, he simply replied that he was after the most dangerous 'hunt', and "supers fit the bill, I think." During his incarceration he was kept in solitary confinement because of an inability to remove his armour. Upon an Arachnos break-out, he was reported missing, and is confirmed to now inhabit the Rogue Isles.

In his time in the Rogue Isles he has acquired a reputation for structured brutality. He is never needlessly violent, he goes in, does what he is paid to do, but has no hesitation in brutally killing any who get in his way.

While he cruised around for a long time, acting essentially as an enforcer for people who could convince him about the validity of a target, eventually he attracted the attention of the high level Arachnos hierarchy. At first all was well, he fought their enemies, was paid, and was content. He even fought alongside Ghost Widow and Black Scorpion at one point, the three of them bringing down a number of high ranked heroes of Paragon. But soon Black Scorpion, who'd taken him under his wing, desired the technological marvel that was Game Hunters armour.

There are few witnesses to that epic battle, taking place as it did in the middle of an uninhabited, urban ruin left over from the Rikti Invasion. Those that did said it was a titanic sight, two technological masterpieces battling for superiority. What is known is that it lasted for well over three hours, neither backing down.

The end result is unknown, although the fact that they both still live casts more then a little confusion over events. Did they find respect for one another? Did one achieve victory and spare the other? Did they simply declare stalemate and leave, readying to continue the battle? Currently it's unknown.

Perhaps inspired by these events, Game Hunter has invested large amounts of his ill-gotten fortune into researching a new armour variant. The Warlord.
