Personality
Don't let his aristocratic drawl or womanizing fool you; The Gentleman Gambit is as true as the steel of his beloved swords. He backs up the Sentinels whenever they need him, and when the crap hits the fan he'll be there with a sword in both hands and his beloved revolver in his belt. Say anything insulting to the good name of a lady and this old southen gentleman's swords will be out faster than lightning. On his time off you can find him at Pocket D, chasing some tail or looking for a victim for a game of spades. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PLAY CARDS WITH THIS MAN
Character History
Where to begin the story of Gentleman Gambit? Jack LeBeuregard was born on the Hampton Ferry Estate a little south of Baton Rougue Louisiana. His father died in childbirth, by walking off the balcony while heavily drunk. Jack was raised by his mother, who's family had owned the estate since before the Civil War, and were some of the oldest of the Old Rich of the South. Jack learned to ride, shoot and fence at a young age. While one would never think of him as an intellectual, he had a frightening cleverness to him, and even at a young age was a skilled opponent in games of any sort, everything from chess to blackjack.
He studied at the University of New Orleans for less than a semester before being expelled. A Dean's son became too friendly with a young lady and Jack stepped in to knock some sense into him. A second semester at Tulane University ended after an incident involving a Senator's daughter, a limosine and a case of really good scotch. His mother dispaired of him ever getting a decent education. A year in Europe ended in disaster, and to this day GG is still not welcome in Lisbon. Jack LeBeuregard ended up spending several years in the seedy docks of New Orleans, getting thrown out of Jazz Bars and Gambling Dens, making himself independently wealthy with his card playing, making enemies and protecting the good name of women with his quick blades.
Till one night, at the seediest bar in the seediest of docks, he entered into a high stakes poker game with a Technomancer and a Fortuna Mistress. You wouldn't think you could bluff a woman who could see the future, but LeBeuregard pulled it off, and won $5,128,520 in cold hard cash from one of Recluse's right hand women. Predictably, she didn't pay up, and a slight ruckus insued. When it was over, he and the Technomancer were on the run, back to the Techno-wizard's hometown of Paragon City. Now Jack LeBeuregard has taken the name Gentleman Gambit and is working for the Sentinels. Arachnos owe's him money, and he intends to collect. There's a whole big city of evil-doers to be undone, hot superheroine's to seduce and possibly best of all, people who have no idea when to call his bluff.
